Taillon with another great start. Once healthy we may have the best starting rotation in the league. Add Wesneski, Brown, and Assad to the pen and we would look ridiculous.

Think we will need a trade for a big bat though.

Let's hope the pitching holds up until we get Belli and Suzuki back.

Add Cade Horton to the mix mid season as well.

Yep. Kid looks like an ace!

This kid (20 yrs old) is probably the best bat in th whole farm. So natural.

Ballesteros keeps hitting and he will find his way to Wrigley. I’d bring him up before Mervis next time. I bet he goes to AAA once he gets 100ab

with the Luis Arraez trade and Miami cleaning house, I'm hoping somehow Jake Burger ends up back in Chicago even if it's as a Cub. The fit is there I think, 3B/DH type. Internally, I suspect Owen Caissie has a big bat and is ready for the majors, but he's pretty young and I doubt they're going to play him over Happ.

Nice win by the Cubs last night. A shame Shota couldn't get the win- he deserved it. But at least they came back late and scored a couple runs so he didn't get a loss. Nice to see the offense kick in when needed.

Cubs hitters struck out 15 times against Cease and two relievers. They’re averaging 2.8 runs over the last 12 games while hitting a combined .195 with 109 strikeouts, though Counsell didn’t agree with an observation that the offense has been struggling.

This kid. Him and Horton are the two guys that I think will be the difference makers

Wait 6 walks in a row with the bases loaded…. That’s insane. According to the article the White Sox had 8 walks in a row in 57 but I don’t think the bases were loaded to begin with. Like how does that happen?

Solid start by Hendricks. Needed it with so many of our pitchers out.

Once healthy are pitching is contention good but we need another big bat. Happ ain’t it.

Didn't see the game, but saw it in the recap. That has to be some sort of record. And the Cubs still lost!

Good to win a series, even if it was the Pirates. Good to see the professor throw a good game too. But our closer is not very good- he almost gave up a 3 run lead in the bottom of the 10th.

Belli seems to have come back from his injury on a tear. that's a good sign. And Morel has picked it up a bit too.

Someone explain to me why Shota Imanaga is performing so well. I thought he would be average, like a 4 ERA kinda guy. Instead he's been arguably the best pitcher in baseball so far.
Some career stats in Japan: 3.18 ERA, 7.5 H/9, 1.0 HR/9, 2.5 BB/9, 9.2 K/9. 1.118 WHIP
In the MLB after 8 starts: 0.96 ERA, 6.9 H/9, 0.6 HR/9, 1.5 BB/9, 9.8 K/9. 0.940 WHIP

what gives? those numbers should be reversed.

Another dominant 7IP today.

Dude is an absolute ace.

Folks saying it’s his pause that keeps hitters out of rhythm.

All we need now is a hitter version of Imanaga and we are in business.

Morel with the walk off!

His numbers don’t look great but he’s putting together some quality ABs without the numbers. It will come. His fielding has settled in to league average too. Will improve as well.

I think we have our 3B.

No Dansby.
No Nico.
Happ has sucked.

We need a bat. I’d be calling up Brenden Davis. He’s on fire and finally healthy.

Cubs called up Luis Vazquez. One of my personal favorite prospects. I suspect they did this because they KNOW Mastro cannot play SS and they need a SS on the roster.

And PCA got sent down, along with Mastro. I guess they don't have a place for PCA to play right now so sent him down to get more at bats.

Cubs are hitting something like .202 over last 22 games.
