I bought a Tribune yesterday & Pat is listied the "Deaths This Week" . Corazon Aquino is the first one since they are listed alphabetically. No picture of Pat.

i think the picture was only in the July 31 chicago tribune, I get the trib so I saw it. Fitting fitting picture, she's holding a basketball.

Re: OT: pdenninggolden has passed away
I've been away for a while and this is sad news to return to. When I was new to the board, Pat was one of the first to greet me with a story about how she was teaching in the Public League when Ben Wilson was playing (too modest to mention she was also coaching, I suppose). She made a great first impression and never did anything to change it. Her warmth, optimism and enthusiasm were always evident. The fact that she maintained this demeanor while suffering as she was is incredible. She was an amazing woman who lived an amazing life and we were lucky to have her as part of our community. RIP Patricia.

Re: OT: pdenninggolden has passed away
This truly is sad news. She seemed like such a nice person. Truly genuine.
This news breaks my heart.
We should make some sort of tribute banner to the woman. From what I have been reading in this thread, she led an amazing life. I feel special that such an educated and respected person like her would even bother to read anything that I wrote on this board.
The song "Life without you" by Stevie Ray comes to mind right about now.
God Bless you, Pat. Bless your heart.

magnumt, I lost my father (pancreatic cancer) a year ago last March. If you want to talk in private, email or pm me a contact line and we can hash it out.
sorry to hear that magnum, I wish you and your family a lot of strength in the upcoming time.
TB I lost my father to pancreatic cancer 15 years ago. That's a really horrible agressive sort of cancer. It leaves no chance basically.

Very cool what you did (the trib article, and this thread for that matter) and sharing a story of how she effected your life Doug. Major respect.
Didn't know her that well, but I do wish her well in the afterlife. Always sad to see someone who obviously had a lot of supporters in this forum pass away, but refreshing to know the kind of person she was through all of you. RIP

Re: OT: pdenninggolden has passed away
Heart-wrenching news that I am really sorry about. I guess because we don't know each other personally, we sort of take for granted that everyone on this board is handling life as well as everyone else and will be around whenever we log on.
It's almost embarrassing that we only knew her as 'pdenninggolden', but she will definitely be missed.

Re: OT: pdenninggolden has passed away
I miss Patricia's influence on this board. Almost everyone here knew she was a middle aged or older woman who wrote children's stories, so she seemed to keep the board more "G" rated.
Unfortunately our board has become an uglier place since she left.
For those who don't know a lot of us used the rose to commemorate Patricia, but it still fits nicely as we have a new Rose.
Someone please change the title so all the newbies don't think she just passed this week.
