That is 2017 all over again. Ridiculous. Only difference now is Poles kept his coach in the loop.

Like a couple of others have mentioned, the running game tends to be a rookie’s best friend. Especially early in the season. So it wouldn’t surprise me if he missed that mark this year.

Sure, but Deandre Swift is a good pass catching back that has only played 45% of snaps in his career (still not sure how he got that contract). I suspect a lot more dump offs and screens to RBs that should juice CW's total passing yards, along with more passing on 1st down (like in Seattle) from 2 TE formations.

I have no problem with the fact that the Bears apparently have made their choice. If they believe they have enough information after watching all of Maye's tape, and whatever interactions they had with him at the combine, and are ready to rule him out, why bother with a scheduled visit? I don't know how much actual throwing gets done at an individual workout with a team, if any at all. And if that's why they're ruling him out (something they see on tape), then nothing he does at a visit is going to make a difference.

Same with Daniels- they're going to his pro day, I'm sure if they see something there that opens their eyes, they'll request a visit, but it sounds like they are pretty sure it's Caleb. Personally, I"m glad they feel so sure about one player.

I'd much rather trade back to get a WR, then trade up for Nabors or Marv.

“We just felt that we wanted a home-run hitter there,” said Eberflus. “I think D’Andre brings that. We wanted a weapon back – a guy who could be a weapon out of the backfield.”

That's their explanation as to why they went after Swift. His big play ability, plus his pass catching ability.

Yeah, I been feeling like it was over for awhile, that was the nail in the coffin.

My favorite receiver in this draft.

It's not. Williams is top tier prospect as prospect itself in this class, let alone in QB class. It just doesnt matter who else is in QB class. Doesnt have anything with due diligence. There is 3 years of tape on Williams. He is the guy.

It's like when Lebron James getting picked up in draft and you want to draft him because he is by clear #1. It doesnt matter if there is Carmelo Anthony in draft.

With Flus talking about blue chip prospects at 1 & 9, this rumor makes more sense. Somehow, I always had a feeling Odunze would be a Bear.

I'd rather add Brock and pick up a 2nd for Thomas Jr. though.

But, that's just me.

Odunze has been close enough in reputation so far that he would be a really nice consolation prize. From what I have heard today, Keenan Allen will want a huge no compromise deal after this season, or extension. That doesn’t sound like our move with Odunze sitting there as an alternative.

Everyone knew Nabers was a burner (everyone who's actually seen him play at least). BTJ was the biggest eye opener to me back at the combine and he showed that speed (at his elite size) again today. We need to find a willing buyer of course, but if we could trade back to 17-20 range and grab a 2nd, its hard not to like that Verse/Latu/Murphy/BTJ range of guys in that 16-19 mocked range. That requires a lot of the OT's to go in that 10-15 pick run, but truthfully some of those guys could be in the "blue chip" tier for Poles as well.

I read today that the Bears were hoping to sign Allen to an extension soon. It sounded like they want to lock him up for at least a few more years.

If they think they can do that, taking a WR at 9 really seems like a luxury- almost as much as taking Brock would be. Edge is a much bigger need than a WR3.

You dont skip on great WR prospect just because you need edge. If good edge is there you take him, otherwise do not skip on luxury and depth of weapons like WR. You take BPA available. Also there is nothing wrong having elite prospect WR learning from two great WR's. It's a comfort.

Just to be clear, I would prefer elite edge over elite WR prospect, but if there is such prospect he wont be there at #9 be sure of that. It's simply not realistic or highly possible to build entire team in one offseason with no weaknesses.

I like the idea of Thomas. I don’t know what makes him different from Kevin White as a prospect. Bybthat I mean, I don’t know. Not that I am accusing him of being Kevin White. With BT measurables, he isn’t mocked as high as one would think. Granted, he might though if the big 3 weren’t in this draft. But I want to know why he’s not supposed to be on that tier of player. But, even if not an alpha he is the type of 3rd X “type” receiver the team can use as a complement.

Could probably trade back a little further to make sure we recoup a 2nd this year... I wouldn't be opposed to it. I'd definitely wait until the day of the draft to make sure we don't miss out on a player we highly value falling to us.

Also starting to believe Nabers might be WR1 in this class.

As well they should, I just don't see them trading up and him falling to 9 is a long shot. I doubt this impacts their decisional all, but Caleb was very friendly with Nabers and was tied to his hip a bit. Wonder if by any chance CW lobbied for him.

Not laser timed so there still might be a chance (yeah right). Him falling to 9 was always a pipe dream IMO.

He might end up being an even more explosive version of DJ. Maybe not the most complimentary piece, but boy oh boy. Would be our version of Tyreek and Waddle.
