Lions choking big but the play calling is there.

Playoffs proving you have to have a dynamic offense which can pass the ball and run to keep folks off balance.

Originally wanted the 9ers to win, but then I was okay with the Lions, but now I’m back on the 9ers.

In other words, anyone but the Chiefs, no matter what

The thing is the Chiefs won’t choke like the Packers and Lions

I moved the goalposts??

Yes, you did. Fleet originally said this:

fleet wrote:Pat is good at fake strawman polls. But fun to watch him unwittingly lay out a case for us to disregard his own opinions on things. why bbf keeps cluttering up this thread with tweets by randoms opining. Pat makes no valid points, and creates false choices on fake scenarios.

You responded:

Betta Bulleavit wrote:But it’s okay for people to flood the thread with random stuff that supports your position right?? You’re being biased in the one position where you can least afford to be, Fleet. Just calling a spade a spade here.

When Fleet asked for an example of your accusation that he wasn't calling out people who "flood the thread with random stuff that supports your position," the best you could muster was a post about Brian Urlacher saying the Bears should draft Caleb Williams. Brian Urlacher is, quite clearly, not some "random" person, which was the original point by Fleet. He's one of the best players in Bears history. Whether someone believes in his football acumen is besides the point.

So your example did nothing to prove your point. Instead, you just moved the goal posts from "tweets by randoms" to tweets by people with a "professional reputation," whatever that means.

There was no moving of the goal posts on my part. Brian Urlacher’s opinion (as great of a player as he was) is very much random as he has no reputation or credentials as a talent evaluator. So him thinking that we should draft Williams means about as much a say, Cutler feeling like we should build around Fields. The difference is, The Establishment supports Urlacher’s opinion while not supporting Cutler’s. My point was that there is a bias that exists within this discussion and I pointed that out effectively whether you or anyone else likes it or not.

As far as the debate itself, I’ve moved on from talking about what we SHOULD do because I’ve already stated my position on that. I’m just getting sick and tired of the same folks bullying those that don’t want to buy into their narrow minded vision of there not being other directions that we could go with validity. Just because I see definitive reasons as to why we SHOULD draft Caleb doesn’t mean that there aren’t valid reasons as to why we could build around Fields.

Is mr irrelevant a system qb or just incredibly mis-scouted? I still don't know.

Dan Campbell needs to be fired unless the kickers leg is broken.

Will be interesting to see the creativity of the Purdy haters after today.

I actually didn’t know that Purdy has a large amount of haters. Either way though, he’s played a very good game.

It was a pretty egregious decision, given the score.

It’s probably a little bit of both. Mis-scouting is incredibly common and I also happen to think that *most* quarterbacks are more apt to be successful in certain systems. Kudos to the 49ers for putting the right pieces together.

I guess I give the credit to him mostly. He's been better than Jimmy G and Trey Lance in the same system- a lot better.

2 halfs of football, DET came out swinging in the 1st but looked like they thought they had already won the game coming out of the tunnel for the 2nd half. I realize the hyper aggressive thing is a big part of who Dan Campbell is as a coach but at some point you have to temper it - go up 3 scores with the kick ffs be opportunistic with risk taking.

if Poles keeps the 1st

1. Cut Whitehair and Jackson
2. Resign Jaylon Johnson to something around 20m a year. Use about 10m for other resigning
3. Trade Nate Davis to the Dolphins for a 7th
4. Sign Lloyd Cushenberry (C), Jonah Jackson (G), Gabe Davis (WR), Saquon Barkley (RB), Adrian Amos (FS)
5. RD1: Caleb Williams (QB), Joe Alt (LT) RD2: Brian Thomas Jr (WR), RD3: Tyler Nubin (S), RD4: Braden Rice (WR), Javon Solomon (DE) RD5: Eric All (TE)

Alt/Jenkins/Cushenberry/Jackson/Wright
Moore/Davis/Thomas/Kmet
Barkley/Herbert/Johnson
Williams

Sweat/Dexter/Billings/Walker
Edwards/Edmunds/Sanburn
Johnson/Gordon/Stevenson
Brisqer/Amos/Nubin

the score shouldn't matter much analytically in that scenario. plus you're the underdog on the road w/ momentum against you. i'm curious whether he was following the analytics though

I think it’s both. It’s not like Jimmy G didn’t get to the SB in this system. It’s a great system! But Purdy is as right for it as you can get.
