Good call bumping this one up!

Super proud of Candace and the Chicago Sky. I’ve followed the WNBA quite a bit this season. And I will say that the Sky knocking off the Sun shouldn’t come as a huge surprise. The Sky played like a top 3 team this season when Parker was healthy. So it’s nice to see it come together for these ladies.

Good luck to these ladies in the Finals! They deserve the support, big task ahead playing against a hot Diana T!

Let's GO CHICAGO SKY!

Would like to watch this, but it runs against the Bears tomorrow for the 2nd half, and I will be in Cancun for games 2/3. Hope they pull it out. Really rough to position game 1 against the local football team.

I hope they win it all. I have extra Chicago championship merchandise money to spend since the White Sox crashed

Just saw that game 1 is today.

Definitely going to tune in for that. I didn't really follow the WNBA at all in the past but definitely enjoyed the few games I watched.

Dominant win for the Sky in game 1!

(I know you’re all watching football right now)

True! They're a really, really good basketball team. Just so many weapons on offense, it's beautiful to watch.

I do think the WNBA generally isn't all that respected for whatever reason. People mock women's basketball in a way that doesn't seem true of Women's Golf or Tennis or MMA, or other pro women's sports that had some sustainability to them.

That said, I don't know that anyone here is disrespecting them. There may not be much interest, but lack of interest isn't the same as disrespect.

Personally, I was flipping back and forth during the Bears game and watched them before it went on. I think ironically the Sky were like -30 while I watched and +40 while I was on the Bears (probably not quite that bad but sure felt that way as I had both huge runs against them in the 2nd half when watching and their huge runs where when I was on the Bears).

Honestly I think it has a lot to do with everyone being conditioned on basketball being a tall mans game. Tennis, Golf and MMA being taller doesn’t give a specific advantage like it does in Basketball. Just my speculation. Might simply also be because it is part of the big 4.

I do think you're right that being part of the big four is a large factor in the equation. Because there was such massive popularity of the men's version of the game before the women's version had a pro league, people need to come up with a reason as to why they don't like the women's version and that probably causes the disrespect.

Yea eff EDD. She left us hanging
Didn't she leave to be closer to her sister? Can't be mad at that tbh.

That said.... does anyone have a ticket buying strategy for these games? I find it hard to believe some of the prices on the secondary market even tho this is a sports town

The WNBA has fairly draconian rules towards their star players (effectively we could have franchise tagged her until she was 33), she threatened to sit out if we didn't trade her. We got back the #2 pick for her. She did force her way out of town, but I have a bit of sympathy for her not having true free agency until 33.

Yes and even before she was drafted everyone knew her sister was the priority in her life. As Doug mentioned the situation was not a favorable one contract wise and she forced her hand. I don’t think it was super bitter, just a thing of circumstances.

They accomplished what Ben Simmons tried to do. Only reason it wasn't advertised more cause it's the **** WNBA. Low class move from them.

Sylvia was the worse one. EDD did it for her sister. But still I don't IDGAF.

It made NOT watch WNBA basketball again until Parker got here.

And with FA being that far away, I would've let them both rot. No way would I have accepted pennies on the dollar for them. Especially considering they likely would have caved when the game checks weren't being issued.

So how are they winning? They were .500 in the regular season and they kind of look mediocre across the board from the numbers.
