Her husband, Jonathan Owens, DB formerly of the Packers signed with the Bears earlier today. So, basically, Simone is our Taylor Swift now

We have other picks and this class is deep at WR. We can get some solid ones later on.

We don’t need solid ones later on. We need two new starters ready to play day one with Caleb.

texans had only 1 surefire starting WR heading into last season (not nearly as proven as DJ either). stroud made everyone look good

A pretty sobering (and prophetic) read. Wish I’d seen it a week ago.

I will really have to evaluate all of this after the draft. Lots of holes to fill, but lots of ways to go.

Danielle Hunter ended up getting a lot less total than I thought he would at $24.5m per season.

The texans added three really, really, good defenders plus mixon. I think they are a WR away from being true contender. Like 3rd or 4th best team in in the NFL. If they're there already

Although I would have loved to add a second top notch pass rusher, but I always got the feeling that Poles is mostly satisfied with who we got. I think He still adds a DE. I'd like it to be Chase Young. I think he'll improve a lot after a full year of coming back from his injury and he'll probably be pretty cheap. I'd sign him to a 2/12-15ish type deal. I think he has the highest upside of anyone left.

What I am concerned with is that lack of adding depth on OL. That may have been our biggest issue and poles hasn't done much to address that. For now, at least. I would like to see him add at least two more guys on the line. Preferably a versatile vet via FA and Zak Zinter in the draft

Great deal for the Texans

because he got significantly less than HE asked for?

dude's not an elite EDGE but got 2 years of franchise tag money nearly fully guaranteed for age 30-31. seems like a pret-ty, pret-ty good deal for him

As a Houstonian, I'm super excited that the Bears are coming to play here this upcoming season. I'm definitely going to be there. Never seen a Bears game live. Hopefully it's a good game.

He was fifth in sacks. Out of the top 4 sack leaders, he had the most tackles, the most tackles for loss, and 2nd most forced fumbles. So yeah, he's pretty good and the Texans got him on a pretty good deal. Especially considering what all the other pass rushers are getting this offseason

You're in for a great time. I got to see the "play in" game between Houston and indy live. The Stroud/Collins combo is something nice

well, you've downgraded the deal from "great" to "pretty good", so that's something. while hunter is certainly better than pretty good, and a notch above sweat, he ain't elite:

and what are the other pass rushers getting this offseason again?

So the fact they signed a TE pretty much ends the dream of getting Bowers I suppose. I really dont' get the hesitation on the part of Poles not to trade JF if a good deal presents itself. Even if they sour on Caleb, there's still Maye and Daniels to pick from. If being this cautious cost them the chance to make a good deal for JF, I think that's pretty bad managing by Poles.

Poles definitely seems to be very low key in FA. No big flashy signings- just a lot of mid level to low level deals for mid to low level guys. I guess that's one way to fill out a roster. I can't say I blame him too much when you look around the league and see how poorly some of the big signings have turned out for teams.

Our offensive weapons are looking better now with the addition of Swift and this TE (although I know-nothing about him). At least we have filled a few of those holes, although with the loss of Mooney, WR has to really be on Poles' mind. I'm guessing we go there at 9, and then again in the 4th or 5th rounds. Or trade back from 9 and use one of those picks on a WR.

It seems like the D line is going to be thin though, unless we use 9 on an Edge. But no Jones, and no free agents for the D line either. I hope Poles has a plan.

I agree. I think 75 is too late to address WR2. And we also need a WR3.

I am convinced for no particular reason the Bears are landing JPJ by any means necessary.
Read on Twitter

I would love to get JPJ but i think we would have to trade down from 9 and he's probably going in the top 22. Multiple potential landong spots for him form 16-22.

We would have to sign a WR2 and a starting DE imo to warrant trading down from 9.

unless there's a clear gap between EDGE 1 and 2/3 we should absolutely be trading down if no odunze

so watch poles trade down to like 13 and overdraft JPJ there. assuming a good RAS score, of course

It's very possible that all the receicers are gone at 9 and that one of Verse or Turner or gone. In that case you take the DE and move on (unless Poles intends to trade down and draft JPJ). If both Verse and Turner are available at 9, then trading down a few spots to 11-13 would be a good move I think.
