Javon Carter would have been a better fit in trying to make the mid 3 work, and maximizing Coby with them. Pure 3&D that doesn’t demand touches, to reduce the tension between LaVine, DDR and Vuc all wanting theirs.
Coby basically now takes LaVine’s place, and his role has been replaced by 3&D in the form of Caruso / Ayo. Could also be next to Carter but that makes the Bulls a bit too small. And Carter has generally underperformed on the defensive side, which was the attraction.
