Check Fred van Vleets January numbers for fun.

Is this supposed to be a dig at Ayo? It’s still impressive

No its not, why would it be?

I love Ayo and I think his defense has been awesome recently. A perfect 3rd guard moving forward and he kinda makes Caruso tradable

A vast Majority of guards don’t average 1 block per game. FVV is a very good defensive player especially in help. It doesn’t take anything away from him. Currently there are only 2 guards that are averaging a block per game: Alex Caruso and Derrick White.

Yeah sure. This take will age gracefully

One can only hope that's true... but I doubt he'll be able to continue his percentages for the remainder of the season.
~60% FG% and over 50% from 3... per ESPN's last 10 games tracker.

Last 10 games:
FG%: 59.6%
3P%: 51.4%
FT%: 88.9%

Kinda missing the point. All I’m saying is that he’s improved.

I will spell it out for you. He averaged 1.6 blocks per game over the month of January. Just a fun stat.

Yeah I traded for him on my fantasy team and moved up 5 spots in Jan.

Back to Ayo. I used to go to my anecdote well with FebruLauri and Nico, but in hindsight a good month can be a sign of things to come, given opportunity.

Someone suggested in the Coby thread that we needed an Ayo thread too. I agree, so here it is.

What has contributed to his improved play?

That was me. THANKS!!!

Confidence because his role has expanded. His 3 ball is really jumping because he’s more ready to shoot and shooting with confidence.

I did. Where did you even come from? I did mention that FVV is a really good defender but that went over your head. Here’s some advice work on your reading comprehension skills.

You haven’t added anything relevant to the topic. Maybe you should look into the mirror. Anyways Ayo has been playing well this year.

I think you're a bit obnoxious here.

Someone mentioned that Ayo averaged 1 block a game for for his current hot streak and claimed it was 'wild' for a guard (which it is).

Then, PerkinsFor3 added that we should check out FVVs numbers for January (maybe could have put in brackets in that post about what his bpg was) and also later stated that his bpg for January was 1.6bpg, which for a (6'0") guard is actually pretty 'wild'.

They've definitely added something relevant to the topic.

At this point, I kinda just want to watch Coby/Ayo/Caruso play beautiful up tempo basketball.

Been saying for awhile he was in the wrong role, now that he has a bigger more clear role he is starting to thrive in it. People act like he is supposed to be some defensive stopper and facilitator when in fact in HS and College he was a scoring threat with some defense. He transitioned into the NBA as a defense only guard and now people are starting to see who he can be if given the chance.

Looks like he's the starter now and will be getting around 35 minutes per game. I think he's shown he has an all around game in college and in spurts in the pro's (more consistently of late). Drive, midrange, three, playmaking, on and off ball defense, blocks, steals, rebounds, he can provide all of that. His major weakness is that he defers too much. He needs to shoot more to create space and to take pressure off of Coby and DeMar. That, and also because he is kind of a jack of all trades master of none on offense. We will see if he can change that. That being said, he and Coby are the two guys I root for the most on this team.

Ok. Dude is saying that like most guards average 1.6 blocks per game. It still is somewhat irrelevant. I don’t appreciate the insults or your unsolicited opinion.

He wasn't saying that at all, you just somehow misconstrued it that way.

The relevancy is that both guards over a certain stretch averaged 1+ bpg. It's really not that hard to figure out.

I'm sure PerkinsFor3 didn't appreciate you asking them "Where did you even come from?", like they're some nobody that's not allowed to comment on a public message board.

You're opinion of the relevancy of their comment was also unsolicited, but you still seemed to think you had to comment and question where they came from.

Its insane how you are up in arms. The only thing I did was point out that, when shotblocking among guards was brought up, FVV was averaging an insane number for the month. I really don't get where you get all that negativity from. Totally unwarranted.
