I haven't watched in forever. Sometimes I watch a bit later on Youtube some dunks. Not interested, even less when no Bulls player is involved.

Re: IMO the NBA ASG has hit rock bottom
Watching them take turns shooting uncontested 3s was compelling stuff
I'm not here to argue.

If only some of our guys made the ASG, their shooting is so awful we could have definitely kept it under 211 points.

Re: IMO the NBA ASG has hit rock bottom
It’s brutal at this point. There’s gotta be a happy median between what the players and coaches are trying to do and what the fans want to see.
Sure. Logo threes and highlight reel dunks are part of what we expect to see as part of the game. But we do expect to see a GAME. Not just a glorified pre-game warmup. No, I don’t expect guys to be diving for loose balls or taking charges. But it wouldn’t hurt to contest some shots. Moving of the feet and running of actual plays. Going about it the way that they have makes it seem like they have no interest in being there. And last night almost seemed like it was more of a race to 200 than anything else. That just wasn’t entertaining to me in the least bit.
I would have almost have liked to have seen a few guys like AC, Brooks and Green in there to help junk up the game just a bit. Guys that aren’t there for all the high profile stuff. Just more so there to keep the game honest.

Yeah I've had no interest in this basically for decades. Just so lame.

Re: IMO the NBA ASG has hit rock bottom
I don't care. The ASG being meaningless is completely fine with me. It's an event for kids and casuals...and that's okay.
The regular season is 82 games long. Over the last couple of years, the NBA has done a lot to make every game count more. They implemented the Play-In, the In-Season-Tournament and the 65-games rule for the major awards. There's no need for a competitive ASG on top of that IMO. Let the players have a little fun and enjoy their little break. I'm definitely enjoying my NBA break every February.

BTW, the funniest thing people do on NBA Twitter every year is acting like this isn't how it's been for a looooong time now. Every year I have to watch the same accounts cry for a day and read insane "solutions" like playing for homecourt advantage in the Finals.

It's not just the asg but the entire all star weekend has become a joke. It goes both ways. Players don't care which leads to the fans not caring to watch it.

The 3 point contest is still a lot of fun, and the Steph vs Sabrina wrinkle was especially great. The Rising Stars tourney on Friday night is very watchable since the players actually care. I liked getting a glimpse of the Ignite guys vs NBA competition (in a casual format granted).
Everything else is garbage. My kids (ages 8 and 5) were mildly entertained by that awful Dunk Contest. They watched 5 minutes of the ASG before losing interest.

The parts that you liked were people with something to prove.

I was bartending last night. We have five TVs and my boss likes game audio on over music for "big games". It was atrocious.

You could fix the all-star game if you wanted to, but you'd have to do it with money, and the amount of money to fix it is more than the league would ever generate off of it.
In the end, you can't make guys play hard for exhibition games.

I loved it. I turned on the altcast and just stared at Taylor Rooks all night. Really had no idea a game was even going on.

How about winning conference gets home court during the finals? Like baseball.

The MLB All-Star game is the only one left that's competitive and that's only because pictures have to throw their normal pitches. Kind of the beauty of it.

MLB All-Star game is also the only one where the athletes can perform close to their maximum level without risk of injury. Unless the winning team in basketball or football is offered some absurd amount of $$$ ($1 million per player -- is that even enough?), I don't see how you can expect any kind of effort.
