Im just curious, where in the guidelines (Forum Policies) or (Bulls Forum Rules) does it say not to post another sports website? Or even post links to other forums. Just curious. Thanks.

I don't know whether that's stated on any posted guidelines. But it's been a longstanding policy handed down informally from the admins to the mods. They had a lot of experiences with posters trying to direct traffic to other sites, and since RealGM makes money off of the advertising (the mods don't, of course :-? ) they understandably don't want that to happen.

I don't think that it applies specifically to sports websites but rather to forums. For example, you could certainly post a link to ESPN.com but not to the ESPN forums. At least, that's my understanding. You can post the question the feedback forum if you want an answer from a higher-up.

That's fine. I was just curious. Thanks for the response.

I am getting lots and lots of PDF viewer launches while viewing Real GM pages the last couple of days. I believe this is a virus/malware attack. Thanks.

I believe this has been reported, and if I'm not mistaken, they're looking into it as we speak. There's been a few problems with malware/virus adds lately, so the entire system is getting a check-up.

I'm trying to add a pic in my sig but it's saying that it can't recognize the dimensions.

Keep hitting 'submit' until it accepts it. That usually does the trick.

Saw the "Rose on his way out" thread this morning and went WTF?!?

Read the OP and Sham's succinct reply and saw it was locked.

Raised a curiosity question in my mind. You guys can lock or delete a thread. I suspect that you delete threads from time to time and I haven't noticed, 'cause well, they're deleted. What's the criteria for delete vs. lock?

It depends entirely on the situation. If someone comes in to post gay porn, it will be deleted immediately. If three people start the exact same thread about a rumor/trade/injury update/whatever then we either merge or delete the two that isn't needed.

When we have a mega-thread going on something (Amar'e for example) then we lock duplicate threads but keep them visible. That way people can see from the lock and our comment that we don't need to have duplicate threads on the board. Hopefully that makes them post in the established thread instead.

But it depends on the situation and the moderator.

Not really thread worthy, so here is as good as anywhere. Anyone else having major problems with the format of the board? It all goes to crap and you have to refresh it. Looks like scrambled words. Ish is bugging me.

If you don't want to use the account, it doesn't need to be "terminated." Just don't post.

Since this has kinda turned into a mod thread: Do you guys take shifts on the boards, or is it more that one of you is more than likely on at all times?

Our schedules are different enough and our obsessive compulsive disorder is strong enough that usually one or more of us is around. No, we don't coordinate our efforts.

Distance helps as well. Its useful that we have Sham in England and Morten checking in when he's done with Alpine Horn practice, Ben B, the New York kid and I on Eastern Time, Duck "The Boxing Water Fowl" and the Thonusaurus on Central Time, Tommy Udo representing West Coast Style and so forth.

Did Duck return to modding?

I knew it! He couldn't resist.
