My friend just sent me this link. I though I would create some controversy during these slow times...

This is a Indian reality show where they degrade folks who are generally lower-class. The winnings are Rs. 50,000 or about $1250. Not a lot, even when compared to Indian economical standards.

Personally, I thought the show is despicable, and the host got what she deserved. In fact, I wish the guy would have slapped everyone who was involved in creating that show. You can blame the guy for hitting a woman; but, when you have been degraded for the last few hours during filming which is going air nationally, you might have knee-jerk reaction reaction to stand up for yourself. She had no right to slap him, but you can argue that he had the right to defend himself. I am not promoting that what he did was right, but I know what she did was wrong.

Oh, and the mob at the end... That happens a lot in India. If you do something wrong, the public will beat you up. I saw a car driver get beat-up almost to near-death for striking a bicyclist. And of-course since the mob all work for the reality show, they were biased against the contestant.

“This incident occurred four months ago. The participants of the show had to pass through the litmus test of abuses and spats. And it was all scripted! We were all given our parts where 70 per cent was to be said as is and 30 per cent would be improvisations,” says Ravi. “There was this girl called Isha opposite me who was supposed to abuse me and I was to retaliate, but calmly. After a while when it came to improvisations, I presume she was out of words and came and slapped me hard. I was shocked and in the heat of the moment, I slapped her back. That led to the entire unit of about 70 people jumping on me beating me black and blue. It was a miracle in itself that I managed to escape from there,” he says.

Quick correction, the winnings are Rs. 500,000, which is about $ 12,500. Still not a lot. This has got to be one of the most despicable shows out there. It's depressing sometimes what people will watch for entertainment.

I don't blame the dude for slapping her.

After watching the before the slap she really deserved it.

She reminds me of my boss. The accent, the tone and everything. Some Indians really talk a lot of sh*t, though my boss does it behind behind peoples backs, plus she's old. I wonder sometimes what she's says about me when cut out of work early.

I'm pretty sure that's less of a race thing, and more of a boss thing.

I'm sure a lot of people can relate.

I made sure to say "Some" for the very reason of not making it completely racial. But the clip that led to the slap had my boss written all over that. The way she provoked then walked away and came back for seconds, it was very similar.... God I need a new job.

I am an Indian but I don't even know about this show. This is really amazing and I am really speechless.

I am Indian too, and the urban population in India is really losing it's culture and ethics. These characteristics are the foundations of India.
