Quick: Blazers in talks with East team for PG and SF
by Spykes on Thu Jan 29, 2009 9:34 pm

Quick talked about trade rumors that he's hearing that aren't in the media yet. He said the Blazers are talking to 2 teams right now. One is a minor deal with a Western Conference team that doesn't look like it'll get done. The other is a very serious deal with an Eastern team that the Blazers have had conversations with in the past that would bring a PG and a SF back that could push the Blazers into championship contention. The deal would involve Raef's contract and 2 players in the Blazers rotation, but no starters would be involved.

Thoughts about what team that might be?

by SabasRevenge! on Thu Jan 29, 2009 9:52 pm

Chicago's TE makes endless possibilities work. I would assume that Raef and Outlaw would be sent out with someone other than Sergio (CHI doesn't need a PG, IMO Sergio doesn't have much value to most teams).

IMO Rudy's fair game if it lands us Deng

by cucad8 on Thu Jan 29, 2009 10:06 pm

I would say the combo of Deng and Hinrich definitely gets us into the championship level discussions. Probably not this season, but a rotation of
Hinrich/Roy/Deng/LMA/Oden
Blake/Bayless/Rudy/Batum/PF/Przybilla looks pretty damn good next season. And still leaves us with our first rounder, expirings in Ike and Frye, Freeland, Koppo, etc.
Why so serious?

They're going to be in for a rude awakening when they wake up with Nocioni on their team...

What works and could be possible...

Hinrich/Nocioni/Ruffin
for
Raef/Outlaw/Bayless

It'll be Nocioni not Deng as the SF being moved...

If we can trade Deng now might be a good chance.Move Thabo at small forward and try to get Fernandez as a backup guard.

Atlantic
Boston - Definitely Not.
Nets - Harris is off limits.
Knicks - No.
Philadelphia - Iguodala is off limits.
Raptors - Calderon? But there's no SF here.

Southeast
Atlanta - No.
Bobcats - Felton and Wallace? An actual possibility, but injuries negate a lot.
Miami - No.
Orlando - No.
Washington - No PG.

Central
Cavaliers - Definitely Not.
Indiana - Unlikely they make another deal with Portland.
Bucks - No.
Pistons - No more blockbusters here.

Chicago and Charlotte are the 2 teams that make the most sense.

I don't think they'd include Bayless, even if he's not needed.

I'm guessing, Raef, Outlaw, and Diogu.

Could very well be Andre Miller and a Willie Green type deal.

C'mon Pax! Get Rudy, and you won't have to worry too much when Gordon leaves.

Before people gets rowdy, Rudy is nowhere near the player Gordon is yet, but he has the physical tools to be a good scorer/shooter. He also has the physical tools to be a good defensive player. He could be our Manu part 2.

No but Miller would certainly make them much better.

So let me get this straight, because some poster on the Blazers baord thinks Deng and Hinrich will make them contenders, you really believe that from what we've seen of those two?

They become contenders when Oden and LA finish developing.

Seriously guys, it's not Deng. We already know that management loves him, and he's finally playing well enough to justify the contract. They're not going to dump him for an expiring contract now of all times.

If we turn Kirk and Noce into Raef, I owe a thread that apologizes to Paxson. And I will have a lot of fatih restored in him. I hope we can do something like that involves dumping them, getting back Blake, and an Asset.

I'm not getting my hopes up though. I alwyas end up disappointed.
