Chris Broussard on Gordon situation

Post#1 » by BG7 » Tue Jun 30, 2009 10:21 pm

Chris Broussard was just on ESPN and was asked whether the Bulls will keep Gordon. He said Gordon wants to come back and the Bulls want him back very badly. He also Detroit will offer him 10 million a year and if the Bulls can offer somewhere in that area he will come back to the Bulls

Is Broussard reliable?

If so, this news would be great.

What a strange ending to the whole saga it would be if the Bulls just end up signing him to something around the last two deals offered. But Ben is the type of player you could do that with and continue on as if nothing had happened.

I hope it's true. Ideally, I'd love for them to agree to something tonight. But if that happens, I wonder if the Bulls will enter the season with no other roster changes.

Very true Rerisen. He has shown that he can put the past behind him, and just go out and play like a pro regardless of what's happened in the past.

Even though there have been rumors about Ben being fed with with being jerked around by Chicago's FO, I can see him wanting to return to us. I mean he's been here his whole career, most of the fans love him, and he's got to be in his comfort zone. In a sense, staying with us presents more stability, as he knows how he fits with our players. In Detroit, they still have Stuckey and Rip, and it is always a crapshoot figuring out how the chemistry will unfold with a new team.

6/66 deal to Ben, and consider it a day. Send Hinrich to Detroit.

Right. We can do the extra year as well which could prove decisive.

Does this change with Boozer off the table?

Would anyone take Rips contract? I haven't heard anything about that. Ideally Rip is a perfect SG still all around, they need to upgrade a pure PG, PF, and C.

I hope he's wrong. But of course alot of us want him to stay and alot of us want him gone.

It'll be interesting what transpires.

He said the same thing on First Take this morning but he said 11 mil.

Broussard was just on First Take and said that Ben's people are saying the Pistons will offer him around 11 per. He said if the Bulls get anywhere close to that, he thinks BG will stay with the Bulls.

Edit: A couple things: These were Ben's people saying this which of course they could not know because they aren't suppose to be negotiating. I suspect Ben's agent is just playing games. I wouldn't offer Ben more than 8 mil per.

Detroit will offer him 10 million a year
Well that's already lower than the "promised" 11 million offer of before.

Why do we need an upgrade on a PG? Unless you talk about a back up pg if you assuming Hinrich is going to be traded or a possible a third stringer?

Yeah, he definitely seems to polarize the fan base...the right fans, and the wrong fans

Kirk is a ten times better point than stuckey, any day of the week. Stuckey is the most overated player in the league. and is not a tue point

No he's not. 10X better means he is better than Lebron.

any day of the week.

No he's not. Even when he is injured?

Stuckey is the most overated player in the league

No he's not. Try Andrew Bynum.

and is not a tue point

Detroit knows that.

I doubt Ben confides in Chris B.

P.S. Sounds like another plausible prediction under the guise of "I have inside info".

I personally believe that JR is willing to go over the luxury tax for one season with a winning team. He made it clear that they don't want to but Chicago can make the moves required later on in order to stay under the cap. Besides, JR is already saving 5.2 million on Jerome James contract, so maybe he is going to cut his losses and pay a little extra to insure Chicago remains competitive.

Anyone else think this is the scenario?

More reliable than Bucher. But this isn't surprising news.
