You will be missed Ben.

I hope this doesn't mean Salmons feels he has to shoot 10 more times a game.

My favorite Bull is gone. I wish you the best Ben. Can't wait to see you drop 30 on us every time we play.

Some people are noting this, but its kind of hard to get attached to a guy who, best case, will be here for only one year. That's the asterisk that needs to go by everyone of the "use the capspace created by Gordon walking" comments. The Bulls have to let Salmons go too and Tyrus.

Right now, if you are really looking for a max free agent next year, the only guys on the roster at the time will be:
Rose / Hinrich
???????
Deng / Johnson
???????
Noah / GIBSON!!!!

Why'd you have to mention Gibson?

Much respect to you, BG. You were as cold blooded as they come. But you're the enemy now. Still, thanks for everything you gave this franchise. I for one will never forget your contributions in helping turn this thing around.

Until Deng re-proves himself, our long term core is one person: Derrick Rose.

Maaaaybe Noah if he can figure out any move besides a dunk.

This will hurt the Bulls for a long time. Ben you were awesome for us. In my opinion you are irreplaceable. The only guy i see taking your place is wade. But if we get wade we wont get bosh. Now the bulls are in need of a sg and pf. The bulls had all the pieces except that big man and now face two huge holes. I will miss the rose and Gordon back court. THANKS Gordon for the memories

Why?

As long as Salmons has a higher TS% and a higher eFG% than Gordon- like he did last season after joining the Bulls- I'll be quite effing happy to see him take ALL of the shots Gordon was taking.

But this thread is about Ben, and he will be missed, certainly.

I thought he really expanded his game last season, showing much more willingness to go strong to the hole and get contact. I also thought his drive and kick game was much better last year.

And congrats to Ben for getting more money than he could have gotten from the Bulls.

He will have made $61,404,749 from 2008-09 thru 2013-14 when this contract is up. So with the year on the QO, it's like he got 6/61.4 last summer.

If he could have signed for 6/58 last summer, it wasn't really worth the injury risk over 1/2 mil a year more.

If we're talking 6/54 last summer, he obviously made an extra 1.25 mil per. Good idea to wait a year.

But if he would have signed the 5/50 extension in July of '07, he would have made $50 million from 08-09 thru 2012-13.

Assuming his contract now goes 9-10-11-12-13 million for each season, he'll wind up making just under $48.5 mil through 2012-13.

Thanks for being the best, most exciting, hardest working and most admirable Bulls player since Michael Jordan. I really mean that.

I can remember some people were saying that the Bulls will suck forever when they lost Crawford and Curry.

Remember when you used that same argument for Andres Nocioni taking more shots. That **** was funny as hell man.

I don't really have much to say ATM other than to mention the class of certain individuals here corrupting the thread and that I hope Ben eats us each time the Bulls meet the Pistons, and even send a signal to JR if he's present. Yet again this organization fails its fans, but we're too naive and hopeful to do anything, one thing is for sure, this team is gonna have to earn my time next season.

This team doesn't deserve anything worthwhile, and the way it handles itself doesn't help their cause to get these thing and retain them. So, take your picks, how long til Rose is gone.

Ugh. I literally almost cried watching that...

Tough to see him go, but I'm happy he cashed in. He deserved it.
