OT: pdenninggolden has passed away (1 year)

Post#1 » by dougthonus » Mon Jul 27, 2009 11:33 am

I received the following sad email this morning:

My name is Jeanine Baran. I am a long time friend of Patricia.

On Thursday night, July 23, I received a phone call from Eddie Wells that Patricia was found unresponsive in her apartment. I was also told that 911 was called and that she was pronounced dead.

Please share this very sad news with others you feel would appreciate knowing. This is the only information that I have been able to learn. Please also share any further information you might know.

I didn't know Pat all that well, but she was a rare person. Rare in the sense that there are few women who post on basketball forums and rare that there are few people who post on a forum based on arguments without ever saying an unkind word about anyone.

Every post she made, virtually without exception was a positive endorsement of someone. To the point where her positivity sometimes struck people as false which seems strangely cruel now. My last communication with her was an email about a month ago where I suggested that she see a certain type of specialist for chronic pain.

Several of the closest people in my life have chronic pain problems and recently had great results from seeing myofacial release doctors. She thanked me for the idea, never letting on how serious her condition was, but I assume she knew that there wasn't much time left. I say this because she sent me a note just wishing me the best about a week ago. A note which happened to come on a very hard day for me and cheered me up quite a bit. Just to have a bit of positive in an otherwise dreary day.

Just thinking of that story brings tears to my eyes, not so much because of how much she meant to me, but how much I know she had to mean to those around her. Unless you've been around people in chronic pain, you have no idea, no idea at all how difficult it is to cope with. How difficult it is to have a positive attitude about anything. For her to be so giving while going through so much defies all odds and reason.

My heart goes out to her family and friends.

May God be with Pat. I remembered only the username at first, but after reading your description Doug, I remembered her positivity. I'm glad she was able to share that with you personally.

That's lousy. Like doug, the first thing that comes to mind is the fact that she never had anything bad to say about anybody and always was encouraging others. This is a real blindside hit. For someone I never met "in life" I'm pretty shaken up over this.

RIP Patricia. May one or more of your childrens' books be published posthumously.

I don't think there is much chance of this thread dropping down over the next few days, but I'm going to sticky the thread anyway.

At first I thought this was some kind of joke because I remembered her posting here just last week (or a couple of weeks ago) but clearly after reading the OP I now know it's not.

RIP Patricia. I echo teamchitown's sentiments.

Very sad news. She was one of the bright lights here, and I don't doubt, in life.

RIP Patricia.

So this picture is for you Pat and may your soul rest in peace .

I always got such a positive image of her. Even if I tried, I couldn't find anything even remotely negative to say about her. Very up beat, seemed to really love being in good spirit and was just all-around one of those positive people you love to have around.

These news are really quite horrible. My thoughts are with her family.

My sentiments almost word for word. Incredibly positive and kind, apparently gutsy behind the scenes, just a very nice person. This is really, really sad. RIP Pat.

The nice thing is, she left a legacy here which guarantees she will be remembered for a long time.

Is there any chance any of us can ever post (or even view) in a silly "Draw on _______'s Forehead" or "Caption This Pic" or any other "be creative" thread on the Bulls Board from now on without thinking "pdenninggolden would have loved this!"

I think not.

From this point forward I dedicate all my posts in such threads to her memory.

RIP. She was a poster, who always had a positive message. You never saw anything but positivity in her posts. If this is how she was online, one can only imagine how incredibly nice she must be in person. A sad day for all of us.

As others have noted, she was so unbelievably kind and positive in all of her posts that you couldn't help but think what a wonderful person she must be. I don't get to post much anymore but seeing this thread I felt obligated to express my condolences. This one truly, truly hurts.

When the passing of someone you've never met hurts as much as this does, you know that person was an awfully special human being.

Rest in peace Patricia, you will be greatly missed.
