I'll just go ahead and send him another memo.

What if we add a pick swap, top 15 protected? Orl gets a chance to move up a litte

I could even see JJ sticking, with Lebron or Bosh.

rose/Kirk
kirk/Redick
Deng/Johnson
Bosh/Gibson
Noah/?

Or
Rose/Kirk
kirk/JJ
lebron/deng
Gibson/deng
Noah/?

Magic fan here. I don't think it is a bad trade, but I would much rather keep jj and try not to mess with the chemistry of our team much more. He is stepping in off the bench and has been playing great on both ends of the floor. Question. Is Salmons a starter? thanks

Salmons started the year as the 2, but when he went to the bench and Hinrich replaced him in teh lineup we have been better since. But his game has also benefited from going to the bench, so take that for what it's worth.

Although last year, when he came in, he essentially replaced the injured Deng at the 3 and had an excellent run as our starting SF, especially in the Celtics series.

If Salmons isn't needed in another trade to get us more useful players, then you have to do this deal.

And I think Orlando is interested because it gives them insurance for Vince, and they need that insurance because he is either liable to get injured or play poorly enough where he starts moping around like he's injured. Salmons is much more of a legit option then Redick in the playoffs and a better defender. Plus, they have over $70+ mill already committed next year so I doubt they are seriously entertaining resigning him.... this is a something for nothing type of deal to help them complete their stacked bench.

Good trade. Think it goes down before the All-Star game?

Thanks for posting the rumor, JOHN.

You go for that deal hard and fast. Just the guarantee of Salmons not opting in, that comes with this deal is enough for me to pull the trigger on this one.

JJ is a great fit to a drive and kick PG. JJ and Devin Brown would give us a modicum of respectability from the 3 point line.

I am strongly of the opinion that Anthony Johnson is being pursued as the backup PG in order to set up a trade for Kirk. Anthony Johnson is the Adrian Griffin of PG's ....I have always liked his game and his savvy.

In a perfect world, if we followed this up with Kirk + Tyrus for Ray Allen, then this is how our team would look for the rest of the year:

D-Rose / AJ / Pargo
Ray Allen / Reddick/ Pargo
Deng / Johnson / Brown
Taj / Deng
Noah / Miller

Thats a SOLID team...with about 42 million in expiring contracts.

We go into free agency with:

D-Rose
-------- ( Wade???)
Deng / JJ
------( Bosh????) / Taj
Noah / -----

You've got to get some sort of bigman help though. Taj and Noah are battling lingering foot issues and the backup in your scenario is Luol Deng, who currently plays pretty much 38 minutes at small forward at night.

Wonder what it would take to get back JJ/Bass? Oh well, probably too much...

I don't want Brandon "2010 money" Bass in any level. Taj Gibson, your 20 minute a night big man who makes 400% less than Bass.

Im only talking about for the remainder of this season, as we could use another effective big man. But I didn't realize that he is, or will be, on a bad contract.

Not to mention Gibson is having the better season.

Anthony Johnson is a servicble back up pg. I dont understand why Stan refuses to play him. When Johnson plays Dwight gets tons of touches.

Could be worthwhile to get Barnes if he is available. He's a quality shooter, provides consistent effort, works well in uptempo system, and can provide spot minutes at PF against teams with smaller PF's. He does have a player option for next season, but it's at less than $2mill. I think I would rather have Barnes than James Johnson, for whatever that's worth.

I think this trade is a win win for both teams...not to mention James Johnson can teach Anthony Johnson some martial arts moves when he comes here...

Matt Barnes has no basketball IQ what so ever. I rather stick with James Johhnson. I know the kid looks clueless out there but so many of you are so eager to dump him. Also Anthony Johnson as a third backup is much better than having old chubby Hunter.

If Paul Pierce has a broken foot, then there may another suitor for Salmons - the Celtics. They are going to need a SF desperately.
