The Chicago White Sox announced that outfielder Dewayne Wise has declared free agency in lieu of accepting an outright assignment to Class AAA Charlotte.
Wise, 31, hit .225 (32-142) with two home runs and 11 RBI in a career-high 84 games with the White Sox in 2009.
I hope Dewayne catches on somewhere. I remember his great catch on Mark Buehrle’s perfect game.

It looks like Freddy maybe back as our fifth starter next year. I didn’t think there was any doubt on Thornton. I’d like to see us ink him for a couple of years.
The White Sox have exercised 2010 club options on the contracts of right-handed pitcher Freddy Garcia and left-handed reliever Matt Thornton.
Under terms of the deals, Garcia will receive a base salary of $1 million in 2010, and Thornton will receive a base of $2.25 million
