DENVER -- The Colorado Rockies extended the contracts of general manager Dan O'Dowd and manager Clint Hurdle through 2009 on Monday. Both had been entering the final year of their deals.
O'Dowd, 47, is entering his eighth season as GM. He was selected the second general manager in franchise history on Sept. 20, 1999. Hurdle, 49, is beginning his fifth season as the Rockies' manager, a job he took on April 26, 2002.
Hurdle has never had a winning record and is 352-436 overall entering the Rockies' opener against Arizona on Monday at Coors Field. The Rockies finished 76-86 last year.
