Tigers can't keep playing Brandon Inge

Post#1 » by kellmellus50 » Sat Jul 16, 2011 12:06 pm

Inge’s stats are staggering: .217 average with 20 homers. He was slugging .515 at the break in 2009. Since then, he has slugged .335. To put that in perspective, Danny Worth is slugging .367 this season. The excuse makers can talk about his bad knees all they want, but they're just excuses.

The reason? With one hitless at-bat in Friday night's 8-2 loss to the White Sox, Inge is hitting .080 (4-for-50) with no home runs and five RBIs since June 1.

Nobody is discarding Brandon Inge," manager Jim Leyland said oh no here we go again just like ryan raburn leland will live and die with both of them.

20 homers? He has 1! If he had 20 homers we would probably be happy! Lol

And yeah, exactly why I wanted to trade him the very second he was named an All-Star, cause I think that moment was his ceiling value and I would never want a guy like Inge on my team. Well because of his salary, it would be different if he was on a lifelong contract for Danny Worth money, but he's automatically unqualified to exist on my roster at this kind of a pay rate. He never justified a contract raise to this level in the first place, and that was obvious, there's no reason to ever give an unjustified contract. That doesn't mean every player pans out, but every player has to have a logical expected value that supercedes that contract offer, and that is easy to control for 100% of the time, and we are miserable failures from that analytical perspective because DD doesn't understand baseball mngmt science, so he has to guess and throw darts blindly, how does that guy become the world's best dart player? Yeah theoretically possible, but still not logical to go about it that way.

Inge's offensive woes have reached the point where he's no longer a valid player in the lineup regardless of what he's doing defensively.

And it doesn't matter if its his knees (though that is just an excuse). The goal is to win games, and Inge is making it hard for us to do that.

Despite a core of really strong hitters we don't have the outstanding offense we should. And its because of Inge and the other bottom feeders in our lineup.
