You get what you pay for, and we don't spend our money wisely. The result is an unspectacular overall team of players and coaches. It is what it is and you can't expect to not be frustrated on a regular basis. That's our fair result and we shouldn't complain that it comes up short of what we want unless we are going to do something to deserve more than we currently achieve.

Its kinda sad that I am so excited to be over .500, but at this point I'll take it. We need to do some serious damage after the all star break

Well that 5 game win streak sure helped. Can't wait for the second half of banging our head against the wall with this cluster of 8 or so teams we are competing with and hoping we can get a lucky bounce of momentum upwards. Some of these squads have to make the playoffs and we are in good position with good health and reserves despite a lot of players under-performing that almost have to have a better second half.

We've basically gotten away with sucking it up - more than any other team has.

I can expect to be frustrated when players don't perform the way they have consistently performed in years past in the same situations.

Well this is baseball, so not sure what you mean by consistently and same situations, that's a vague phrase that's hard to qualify what it precisely means. Do you have a specific player or set of players you have in mind that you are frustrated with?

Second half starts tonight. Time to take the division and run

In other news, Castellanos is starting in RF in Erie tonight. Looks like we want to get him up sooner than expected. Given we always rush our prospects and how that has not worked well in the past (see: Maybin, Cameron), I don't love it. He's 20 and doesn't even have 150 AB in AA, not to mention his less than 2% BB rate there (yikes!). I guess I'm intrigued but I have a pretty hard time seeing him coming up and tearing the cover off the ball in the show. I would let him continue to develop in AA for the rest of the year, but what do I know?

I was just curious if you had a list of players and rationale behind your opinions or whatever the inquiry might cause you to elaborate on and I didn't recall spotting a post like that, sorry if I missed it.

You don't know who the Tigers' big guns are, what consistently means or what bases loaded means?

I do but those phrases and terms might mean something different to me than to somebody else, "consistently" implies that you could determine rates or stats to judge if one was consistent and I don't know what measures you are looking at and what threshold you require to be satisfied. I was just trying to understand and clarify your perspective and if you think problem players need to be traded or if another solution is available. If we are talking about just Fielder and Cabrera and how they perform with the bases loaded, well that's not one of the hot button issues on my mind and I would be surprised if that's what other people thought was a major concern, so I was naturally curious to find out precisely what you thought were since I was just not sure.

Anyone watching the game right now? What an unreal game.

Papa Grande comes in, blows it and now Benoit blows it again in the 13th.

Also, Quintin Berry is something else.

Still got two out of three from the O's and made a nice comeback last night against the Halos. Nice to see the offense coming around; lots of clutch hits in last night's game.

Quintin Berry is the goods. Looks like the team hasn't lost the momentum they had going into the break. This weekend's series against the Sox is gonna be big.

Yeah we are looking good. Berry is the much needed base-stealing threat that we have been lacking. Great story too.

Too bad Turner got bombed tonight

Yeah, it's unfortunate considering there was a lot of speculation that was his showcase start.

Took 3 out of 4 from the Angels and got the first one from the White Sox. Nice to see the momentum still going; let's see first place in the division by Sunday.

Yep, this is how hot they've got to be for me to check on the Tigers forum. I'm a complete fairweather fan when it comes to baseball (Although I'll rabidly read through the box scores if they bring back that 3 HRs = Free Arby's deal)
