Does anybody know what the rotations going to be? will Verlander be in line to pitch games 1, 4 and 7, or is Jimmy going with a 4 man rotation?

He's pitching in Game 1 and Game 5, then probably out of the bullpen in game 7 if it goes that far.

The roation I saw was JV, Fister, Sanchez, Sherzer. That means we get JV game 5 (if needed).

I would have like to see Sherzer pitch more than once, but maybe he could be ready for a Game 7 necessary. Dude has been lights out lately, looks like a second ace.

If it went to game 7, bring Verlander in to close out the game. (Less Pitches)

Love the match-up on paper tonight, but I feel like we struggle with pitchers who throw junk. We should crush Zito, but I bet we come out rusty and scuffle a bit before scoring some late. JV should dominate as long as he doesn't come out too amped up like he sometimes does.

No offense, awful managing, and we're down 2-0. Nice pitching performance by the Tigers, but we only had as many hits as they had runs. Moving on and looking forward to the next game and hopefully a fresh start.

Everything going good for San Fran. We lose with our best two pitchers, they get to use theirs with a 2-0 lead. Tough pill to swallow as a fan right now. Offense has just been horrid to say the least.

Well the way I look at it is we are on borrowed time. I don't think we deserved to be here in the first place based upon how we approached this season with our roster makeup and game by game terrible coaching and tactical strategy decisions. We were fortunate to get this shot due to our awesome postseason pitching across the board so enjoy it and just hope for the best. We don't deserve to win and we should aim higher next year to do a much better job then. And we still have a shot to win 4 out of 6 to win it all, with 3 of those games at home, so that's still a pretty nice opportunity all things being considered.

If we could win the next two, which I believe are must wins, we would have beaten their hottest and best pitchers with JV and Fister ready to go against the backend of their rotation (not like they are struggling, but hey, how long can they stay lights out). That is the only thing I see going for us at this point..

More double plays than meaningful runs in the series. Through four, continued offensive woes.

Well the last DP was from a guy who never earned a shot to have a single atbat in MLB to begin with. So that's not a big surprise, he's not a professional level player. That's on DD, just like everything is that is inexcusable as a terrible logic mistake. Also you can blame Leyland for batting him 2nd and ruining the shot for Cabby to get up with 2 men on, but that's ancillary to the initial concern of him being allowed to be on the team in the first place. Not to mention he didn't attempt a steal when the only decent attribute he offers is SB speed, which might have given us a run considering Cabrera did hit a single.

Berry is just one god-awful baseball player, and the Tigers are the kings of the stupids.

Well it's all about the leadership and that's where we fail the hardest.

Oh well. Was a great run. At least we beat the Yankees two years in a row to stop them from getting to the World Series. I just hate the Yankees.

No, it's not all about the leadership. The players didn't produce.

It's not your boss' fault if you do a lousy job. It's only his fault if he lets you continue doing a lousy job.

It was all Valverdes fault. If he did his job, the rest of the team wouldn't have fallen apart with him!

I disagree. I have said already in the offseason thread that there are about a dozen non-pitchers that we could easily live without and I don't vouch for them. The leadership is at fault for having the wrong players. I expect the wrong players to produce at levels that don't satisfy me, and that's what happened. Sure they could have done better as a team, but if we had a better team then our odds of failing wouldn't have been as high as they were. And we wouldn't have been as dependable on our top 3 of Cabby, Fielder, and Ajax if those other 12 guys were the right guys to possibly bail those 3 out from not producing to their best capability.

The leaders have to pick the right guys, and then coach them to get the most out of them, and then choose game day tactical decisions that give us the best odds. The leaders of our team FAILED on all 3 fronts. That's a huge triple penalty that we shouldn't have had to take. The fact that the players didn't produce to their full capability was just a 4th penalty that made it even worse.

Return to Detroit Tigers
