7 years 210 million, extending until he's 37 years old?
As much as I love the guy, the right decision was made not giving him a contract like that.
At least he's in the National League.

I read the Pistons forum daily. Just came over to see what people were saying about Max's contract. Wow it's quiet in here. I'm glad we didn't spend $210 million on him as much as I love him. He can't pitch beyond 7 innings and I just worry about his durability for 7 years. Damn is Washington stacked with pitchers though.

Yeah.
Its a tough loss to be sure. But yeah, that rotation makes ours at its peak (it peaked the year we reached the world series with Verlander, Scherzer, Sanchez, Fister, and Porcello) look almost weak.

The contract is just absurd. I'm glad the Tigers avoided giving him that deal. Hopefully Verlander has a bounce back season to at least his 2013 level.
