Thanks to baileywalk for the alert, although I know we all wish there wasn't such a need: Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart was killed early this morning. Just last night, Adenhart started for the Angels and pitched very well.
I never met Adenhart. I remember discussing him back in 2004 with an amateur scout who saw Adenhart pitch high school ball in Maryland. Adenhart would've been a top draft pick, but he wound up needing Tommy John surgery as an amateur, and I recall the scout telling me that the kid was tough, and that some team would benefit greatly by buying low on him. The Angels, who selected Adenhart in the 14th round of that draft, were on their way to being that team.
What a tragedy - for Adenhart and the other two people killed, and the people that knew and loved them. Our prayers and thoughts go out to everyone.
Wow. This is horrible. Really bad that some poor guy in the prime of his life in his early 20s gets killed. Prayers and thoughts for all his family and everyone else's. This really must be pretty traumatizing for the team and anaheim too. Really condolences go out to everyone.
