It's too bad almost everyone in Nashville is looking terrible outside of Myers. Biloxi is absolutely loaded with pitching. Have to hope guys like Woessner, Blalock, Misiorowski, Peterson, and Shook have nice healthy seasons so they can build up those innings.

Josh Knoth, RHP, Brewers: Knoth ranked 12th in the loaded Brewers Top 30 heading into 2024 and could be name that climbs that list as well as others with a strong performance in 2024. An undersized righthander from the New York prep ranks, Knoth showed huge stuff pre-draft touching 98 mph on his fastball mixing in a pair of high-spin breaking balls. His slider sits in the mid-80s, while his curveball sits in the low-80s with power. Knoth will flash a changeup as well but it’s a clear fourth pitch behind his pair of breaking balls. Knoth will begin the season with Low-A Carolina where he will be one of the pitching stars on an exciting young Mudcats club.

Brett Wichrowski, RHP, Brewers: When our team saw Wichrowski pitching for the Wareham Gatemen of the Cape Cod Baseball League prior to the 2023 draft, he was an interesting day three type with a low righthanded arm slot that created deception on his sweeper slider and low-90s fastball. When our team laid eyes on Wichrowski this spring his stuff had taken a considerable jump in terms of velocity and more defined movement. His sweeper looks even more dynamic than it did at Bryant or on the Cape and his fastball now sits mid-to-high-90s with late downshift to the armside. Wichrowski packs plenty of relief risk but he is the right organization for high octane pitchers with relief risk that have a chance to develop into a starter. Wichrowski will begin his season with High-A Wisconsin.

Let 2024 be the Year of Wicho.

Two familiar names on BA's Hot Sheet today.

18. Jacob Misiorowski, RHP, Brewers
Team: Double-A Biloxi (Southern)
Age: 22

Why He’s Here: 0-0, 1.13, 8 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 13 SO, 0 HR

The Scoop: Misiorowski is one of the sport’s foremost kings of swings and misses, a title he’s come by thanks to an array of knockout pitches fronted by a fastball that regularly finds the upper 90s and a slider that can bring hitters to their knees. Now, the question is whether he can improve the quantity and quality of his strikes to the point that he can be a starter. In that regard, his last two starts were promising. Facing Pensacola, the righty punched out 13 and issued two free passes. In his previous three turns—a span of 10.1 innings—he walked 11 hitters. (JN)

19. Mike Boeve, 3B, Brewers
Team: Double-A Biloxi (Southern)
Age: 21

Why He’s Here: .417/.482/.792 (10-for-24), 1 R, 3 2B, 3 3B, 1 RBI, 3 BB, 5 SO

The Scoop: Drafted in the second round last year out of Nebraska-Omaha, Boeve stood out for his bat-to-ball ability and low strikeout rate in college. Those traits have carried over to pro ball, where he hit .553 in 13 games for High-A Wisconsin to earn a rapid promotion to Double-A. The hits have kept falling for Boeve in Biloxi—he’s hitting .323 with five walks and seven strikeouts through eight games. (ME)

I am admittedly not very involved in prospect film and reports, mainly just look at box scores for the brewers minor league teams and see who's doing well...but how has Juan Baez not being talked about more? Looks like he is doing good things!

I asked Law about Wichrowski.

Great arm, up to 96-97 with a really sharp slider (maybe a sweeper, I hate that term), no pitch for lefties - it's FB, SL, cutter, and the cutter isn't great - so right now it's a relief profile. Arm action seems fine to start; maybe he can learn a splitter or split-change to give him that extra pitch he needs for LHB?

Love this. Nashville needs the help and it'll be good to see him against better bats.

The Brewers have a lot of bat first dudes and it's nice.

But not gonna lie, would like to see some good old fashioned dingers in the system.

Would love for the Brewers to focus more on power and starting pitching this upcoming draft. I feel we're drafting and international signing way too many CF and SS.
