I know the difference but the problem I have is that Ashby is not that good and they committed long term to him. The return was not very good for Hader so I would have held on to him till next trade deadline.

Next trade deadline is 2 months until he's a free agent. If you think this return was bad then you really would've hated the return next trade deadline.

That I get. I would have let him walk then take garbage. So they got their 7th best prospect. Oh well.

Two top ten guys to our system though. And I don’t have a lot of confidence in Rogers but maybe he can get comfortable and competent in that 7th or 8th inning role

I already failed the assumption on the, "Stearns must see something in Lamet" thought, but I'm going to double down and say, "Stearns must see something in Gasser" where he will end up being a frontline starter or major trade chip within the next 2 years.

As a lapsed diehard, and much more casual fan these days, this trade reads as awful. I completely get the realities of small market baseball, but the org just bailed on a ~92 win team in the middle of the season. It's a slap in the face to the players, coaches, and fans, and you're seeing the fallout on the field.

Division games reduced from 19 to 13. You play each AL team one series and alternate each year home/away. The "rival" team, Minny in our case, you play both home/away. Home next year we have Boston, Detroit, LA Angels, KC, Houston, Baltimore, Oakland (all in the first half of the season), Minny. Road is Seattle, Tampa, Toronto, Minny, Cleveland, White Sox, Texas, Yankees.

Sooo it's now August 26th and Trevor Rosenthal got shelled in his last AAA outing a couple days ago and left the game possibly hurt. No indication an imminent call up is coming or what exactly the situation is now. Some real 4d chess from Stearns on that trade.

Pretty disappointed in Taylor's production this year. Guy was given a golden opportunity and, while his defense and power numbers are fine, I find myself constantly underwhelmed. Feels like he'll max out as a 4th or 5th outfielder.

Oh cool, this seems promising  It would be pretty hilarious if we never pitches for the Brewers.

Sadly, him doing poorly makes me feel even worse about the trade. Wonder if there was something more going on that we will find out about in a 30 for 30 in like 15 years.
