Not sure if that was directed at my post, but I’m all for paying Managers alot more than they get. And if the Brewers goal is to build on the current team —- absolutely pay CC what he wants.

My angle is more cost vs benefit “IF” the team wants to rebuild. Is it worth paying a Manager 7-10M/year on a 3-4 year deal if plan to sell off guys like Burnes/Adames/Woodruff/Williams for a soft rebuild the next few years? I can certainly see the thought process of finding a new candidate that is 1/3 the price and maybe a great fit with a young roster. Its not my money so I dont care, but I can see the thought process if Mark A doesnt want to spend an additional 5m/year on a Manager for a team built to win 70-80/games IF they rebuild.

I want him back so badly that I had trouble admitting this angle to myself, but in the last week I've come to the realization that it is rational and correct. I still want him back, but at the tail end of the current crop of prime talent (especially Woodruff and Burnes), it's natural to be due for a soft rebuild. It's really hard to win 86+ in a small market every full season for 6 straight years, not counting 2020 of course. Damn, I want that soft rebuild but I also want CC back.
Wut we've got here is... faaailure... to communakate.

Vogt just got the Cleveland job. I didn’t feel CC was going to go there so the bummer is Vogt off the market if CC goes to Mets, or Astros.

Rosiak has a tweet this AM that the Brewers has, and have had, an offer that would make CC the highest paid Manager. So I guess it is likely coming down to how much more the Mets are offering, and if the Brewers will match it.

Glad it will possibly be resolved. I’m slightly nervous with the anticipation, haha!

I see Crew promoting a ton of guys in the Front Iffice this AM like Rickie Weeks, Villanueva, Taylor Greene. Will Hudgins, Matt Kleine and Karl Mueller have all been promoted to assistant GM. Matt Klentak has a new title of executive advisor to the GM. Per Curt Hogg.

Vogt was the other option I liked if Craig left. :(

2014. Early in the season (May). Weeks had been replaced by Scooter. The Brewers needed outfield help and asked Weeks if he'd consider trying to play outfield. He refused. I understand that changing positions during the season isn't easy but he wouldn't even consider it. It's always rubbed me the wrong way. If he had at least tried it to help the team and it didn't work out, fine. But he wouldn't.

"We talked about things with him, going to different places," said Roenicke, who indicated that conversation was fairly recent. "We talked with him about whether he thought he could play the outfield, whether he thought he could play first base.

"He does not want to do it."

Asked if he'd usually try to persuade a player that such a move might be beneficial, Roenicke said, "Yeah. I'll leave it at that."

Weeks, who started Saturday night against New York Yankees lefty CC Sabathia, was asked why he wasn't interested in giving left field, or any other position, a try.

"I'm a second baseman," said Weeks. "I feel like right now I should be playing second base."

As for the possibility of changing his mind, Weeks said, "Right now, I'm a second baseman."

He's obviously free to do what we wants and maybe there will be a tweet 5 minutes from now that makes this look stupid, but it just feels like he's not all that interested in managing the Brewers anymore which is disappointing. Just my own opinion but if he really wanted to come back I don't think this whole situation ever gets this far.

The really weird thing too here is Counsell was reportedly all about trying to get the most $ to help out all other managers. But now he's just taking a job of someone currently employed? Make it make sense

I was a big Counsell supporter because he represented the analytics/process of Stearns...I loved the balls of being one of the first to bullpen the playoffs, etc...but if he leaves now - meh.

Expected this to happen, but it's still kind of sad to see him leave.
