Is he a free agent after this season or am I imagining things? With the year he's having he's going to cost a fortune. I'm not very confident in Turnbow, but he may have to be our closer of the future (or Capellan IF he can get it together). What kind of nasty stuff could we get for Coco? His value is sky high right now.

I'm hoping that by later this season, Bush is a key component of the bullpen and Gallardo is in the starting rotation. Then, by next season, I think Vargas will be gone and Villanueva will seamlessly slide into the starting rotation.

I think it's highly unlikely he's shopped. Unless we completely fall apart and are 10 games under .500 at the trade deadline.

There is no way in hell we can go back to Turnbow, not if we are serious about being a good team.

Coco will cost a lot to resign, maybe more than we are willing to pay. At least we will have Jenkins $8 million to use.

It would make no sense to shop CoCo.

If we're still contending by the deadline and trade Coco we're going to be the laughing stock of baseball.

No way we shop him. If were in it to win it than what the heck sense would that make. Our bullpen outside of a couple guys is shaky the way it is. Cordero is one of our only sure things.

Not a chance we trade him.

If he bolts, we'll groom somebody else.

If anything, we're buyers, not sellers this year.

This thread should be locked. It's mindless to even consider shopping Coco while we're still in contention.

I don't think it's that mindless. We're such a young team that it'd be stupid not to look towards the future, and it'd be stupid to lose a guy like Coco for nothing.

I would be shocked if we ended up dealing him. I think its impossible but I say we have to make our run this year even if it means losing him for nothing. Ive heard 4 years 52 million which I think is insane for a closer and obviously Doug is not going to pay that.

If Doug traded Coco, I would jump on the Fire Melvin Bandwagon. Why trade a closer who is having the best season of his life and is on a record-setting pace???

The bottom line is don't trade him. I don't care if he'll be a free agent.

If he keeps this up and we lose him we'll be getting some damn good draft picks depending on who signs him.

Unfortunately draft picks in baseball have about 1/10 of the potential to help your team as they do in basketball and football.

Yes I agree with that but the more draft picks you have the more likely it is that you'll get impact players.

Either way I'd rather just re-sign Coco because our next option is Turnbow and I don't really trust him.

In years past, I might have agreed with you. But while we're in contention and in a win-now mentality, it is indeed mindles to consider shopping Coco. He is our best reliever right now, and the most consistant pitcher on our roster.

And how can you be so sure that Attanasio wouldn't throw the $$$ at Coco? If we win the division and do something in the playoffs, he'll have extra incentive to throw $$$ at the team and hope that it brings back a Commissioner's Trophy to Milwaukee.

This thread is defintly not a useless thread. Although we wont trade him were not going to be able to afford 12 million per for a closer. He is lights out as they get but realistically I cant see him being part of our team next year. Maybe Capellan we keep and he steps in the closers role and maybe TBow comes back to form.
