Jefry Marte is on fire going 2-4 with a double and a home run. The 20 year old has been very impressive.
Juan Lagares went 1-5 playing CF.

A good day in the AFL for the Mets prospects.
Lagares playing CF went 3-5 with a triple and 4 RBI. Also got caught stealing and made his 1st error.
Marte went 1-4 with a walk and made an error as well.
Whitenton threw 2 scoreless innings striking out 4.

Lagares just continues to rake.

"To date in the Arizona Fall League, Mets 22-year-old OF prospect Juan Lagares is hitting .393 with a .414 OBP, a double, triple, two home runs and one walk in 28 at bats.

Meanwhile, the team’s 20-year-old 3B prospect Jefry Marte is hitting .317 with a .442 OBP, two doubles, three home runs and eight walks in 41 at bats.

Earlier this month, MiLB.com’s Jonathan Mayo ranked Marte as the team’s No. 10 prospect."

Both of these players are very talented and both have bright futures. Both are some of the Mets top prospects. Lagares has had an amazing year. He'll probably start in AA or AAA and if he keeps performing like this, we could possibly see him in the majors sometime next year.

These are updates on all of the Mets prospects playing in either the Arizona Fall League or some of the International Leagues. Lots of Mets prospects, some top ones playing as well, but all of these are very small samples. However, it's nice to see how they're performing and it's always good for young players to get more reps and at bats in.

This article goes over all the Mets prospects playing in the Arizona Fall League. I think overall the Mets prospects have been pretty impressive in the AFL. I think Mets pitchers have been very solid, but the Mets hitters have been great led by Juan Lagares who is hitting over .400. However, he's on the taxi squad so he only plays twice a week at most, so he hasn't played that much, but when he's played, he's been impressive.

McHugh has had a rough time out there. Now, so do a lot of pitchers. The AFL is a hitters league, but it's still not good to see. I'm curious what they with him and the Rule V Draft. He hasn't had that much success in his career and was struggling in high A, but when he went up to AA, something clicked. Hopefully, he can turn it around. I know Wally Backman likes him. We'll see what the team decides to do. I could see him getting picked in the draft if the Mets don't protect him.

"A new position for Wilmer Flores and some other notes on Mets hitters playing in the Caribbean Winter Leagues.

Overall
Wilmer Flores - Bravos de Margarita - VWL - .167/.231/.188 (8-for-48) 1 2B, 4 BB, 13 K – 15 G
Josh Satin - Leones del Caracas – VWL: .146/.407/.293 (6-for-41) 17 BB, 16 K – 14 G. Adam Rubin reports that Caracas has released Satin, and sent him back home. Not only was he not hitting, but he flubbed a liner while playing left field Saturday.
Jordany Valdespin – Tigres del Licey – DWL: .220/.273/.317 (9-for-41) 2 3B, 3 BB, 3 K – 11 G … Valdespin is also 4-for-5 stealing bases.
Pedro Zapata – Tigres del Licey – DWL: .375/.394/.438 (12-for-32), 1 3B, 1 BB, 2 K … 2 SB/3 CS – 9 G"

http://www.metsminorleagueblog.com/a-ne ... e-hitters/

So, Flores has been playing some 3rd base. That's where a lot of scouts believe he'll eventually have to move to. A lot of these players don't have great numbers, but I think part of the reason for that is that they're going up against older players I believe. This is from the winter ball leagues.

This is a good article on some of the Mets prospects playing the AFL. A big part is about the manager who's managing Juan Lagares and he talks about how his plate discipline has improved a lot which is good news.

This is a good article on the winter ball leagues and this goes over the Mets pitchers pitching there. Not much to report as there are not a lot of Mets pitchers pitching there. The 3 pitchers are Jeurys Familia, Dylan Owen, and Armando Rodriguez.

"This afternoon, RHP Taylor Whitenton, who pitched for Single-A Savannah this past season, was named to the Western Division roster in the Arizona Fall League’s Rising Star Game.

Whitenton, who will be 24 in February, has had one bad outing in an otherwise strong stint with Peoria this fall, going 1-1 with a 3.27 ERA with 14 strikeouts in 11 relief appearances so far. He had a strong campaign with the Savannah Sand Gnats in the South Atlantic League this season, going 5-5 with a league-leading 2.49 ERA in 25 games and 24 starts."

http://www.metsblog.com/2011/11/01/tayl ... star-game/

Whitenton has pitched really well so far in the AFL. He had a great year for Savannah, but he was old for the league. He has good stuff, but he's had trouble with his command, however that improved this past year where he led the league in ERA. I'm excited to see how Whitenton does next year.
