Pelfrey might be a good 3-5 spot pitcher. He doesn;t have really nasty stuff. Humber does have nasty stuff and will be our Ace for a long time. :)

But we'll have to wait till after the all star break or next year.

Wow your making that judgement on Pelfrey in 7 career big league starts. This guy went from AA to the bigs and the talent in AA is nowhere near the talent in AAA where you have some MLB vet guys down there so you face MLB hitting most of the nights. Give him time before you say he'll be a spot starter.

i think Pelfrey could be good. But only if he gets in work in AAA. Mets rushed him too early.

I hate to judge pelfrey so early... BUT i'm not really impressed by his stuff. I remember watching a game on SNY and it was stating that he only had one swinging strike in his like 70 pitches or something. Thats nuts.... he huge upsdie but i think he needs to go back down to AAA at some point in time and work on his 2nd and 3rd pitches. Hes just to easy to predict right now.

He has great stuff, the problem however is in his head. The great spring training starts he had and also the great side sessions in between starts attest to his ability. Right now it's mental, probably nerves and thinking too much which causes him to overthrow and not stick to the game plan. His stuff in games right now looks ordinary and unimpressive because he is overthrowing which straightens out his pitches. There is no movement. He needs to relax.

He does need to work on his second and third pitches. His inablility to throw those pitches for strikes has hitters sitting on the fastball and at this level you can't live on fastballs. Sooner or later they will catch up to it. I saw that game your mentioning, it was against Washington. He was falling to mix up the speeds effectively.
