Seattle Mariners (28-28)@New York (29-26): One night stand

Tonight, the NY Yankees will face Bartolo Colon's extra kidney, Felix Hernandez (7-1) ERA 2.57. One has to wonder, how long before he's sick of wasting his talents on a .500 team and wondering what if he DID go to New York? Cano is hitting .327 with 31 RBIs. Yet, the Mariners are no better off than they were in previous years at this time.

Meanwhile, the Yankees have problems of their own. One wonders if they'll make the playoffs with the rotation torn apart. Tanaka stands alone. Brilliantly carving his way through MLB. The same cannot be said for the rest of the Yankee rotation:
1. Kuroda is looking like a pitcher used too much by the Yankees last season.
2. CC Sabbathia may never be the same again.
3. Pineda has ANOTHER setback. Carl Pavano anyone?
4. Nova gone till next season.

Manager Joe Girardi has brilliantly duct taped the rotation with a deep bullpen. That's the only reason why the Yankees are above .500.

As for the line up, Derek Jeter is putting together a nice final season. Let's see if he can get up to .280. The same cannot be said:

1. Carlos Beltran's bone spurs in the elbow will limit him, much like Teixiera's wrists.

2. McCann's best days are behind him. Once again, Cashman fails to listen. Don't cut deals with the Braves. The rookie Murphy will supplant McCann in the second half.

3. Ellsbury doesn't look comfortable hitting #3 with Gardner leading off.

Lot of work for Cashman...LOTS of work.
