Yankees traded Vidal Nuno this morning for Brandon McCarthy. I think McCarthy is a minor upgrade at this point, but they take on about $3M in salary for the rest of the year to rent a SP with a 5+ ERA in the NL. He did pitch well for Oakland a few years ago so maybe he will be good back in the AL and in a playoff race. Considering we still have Whitely in the rotation though, I can't imagine that Cashman will not keep looking for a pitcher.

Once upon a time, McCarthy was one of the most highly coveted prospects.

So we trade the worst starting pitcher in all of baseball for the worst starting pitcher in the national league? I guess that's an upgrade.

So far so good. In two starts, McCarthy has given the Yankees everything they could've hoped for when they made the deal. It helps that Beltran and McCann have started to hit of course!

Yeah it's now 3 real nice starts. Looks like a change of scenery was what McCarthy needed after all. Surprising, players that usually seem to have a hard time adjusting in a smaller market doesn't become better when they come to NY. Especially coming from the NL to the AL.

Nuno also hasn't been as terrible for Arizona as he was for the Yankees. Not great by any means but not terrible.
