The story of the Yankees season....Runners on 1st and 2nd, no outs... and they don't get one of them home.

Aubrey Huff owns Mo...

He's this decade's Edgar Martinez.

Losing to the Orioles twice... what a joke.

How do you not pinch-hit with Sexson there? We brought the guy in primarily for his hitting against lefties this year and we leave him on the bench? Dumb call by Girardi.

Arod was the DH.

If Betemit was pinch hit for, there would have been nobody to play 3B.

You worry about 3B defense once the game gets tied, not before. Regardless, it isn't like Sexson was a much better hitter or anything. Mistakes were made but that was not the big one. Batting Giambi in front of Cano was one, not having Nady in the regular lineup was another and why Rasner came out for the 7th was another. -Jitpal

He could have simply moved A-rod from DH to 3B and let the pitcher hit next time up..

Except Edgar was a good hitter :)

At least they've lost no ground on the Red Sox.

And look Betemit's been a decent hitter against lefties over his career. Sexson's lefty production this year is a fluke... he's fallen apart as a hitter overall; don't act like he's a Godsend pinch hitter.

Mo? He probably would have had a better chance to get a hit than some of the guys in our lineup.

As you've all highlighted, there were mistakes made through the whole game from the lineup to the pitching right down to the last at bat.

That said, I'm WORLDS more comfortable with Sexson hitting in that spot than Betemit. I don't like either option and I don't necessarily believe Sexson's splits versus lefties this year, but he was brought in with that matchup purpose as a premise. Betemit flat out sucks - I'd be more comfortable with my grandpa hitting in that spot, and he's been dead for 5 years. Fluke production or not, they should have given Sexson a chance against the lefty, especially a lefty that was getting knocked around that inning.
