scutaro = not as clutch as people think

Post#1 » by kgarnett21 » Tue Apr 17, 2007 3:36 pm

sure, he's had several prominent game-winning hits lately, but on the whole scutaro is not a very clutch hitter.

for his career, he has just a .714 OPS w/RISP, which is not very good compared to most guys.

mike piazza: .933
eric chavez: .825
shannon stewart: .823
jason kendall: .776
mark ellis: .776
milton bradley: .774
nick swisher: .757
todd walker: .720
marco scutaro: .714
bobby crosby: .620

so why do people completely ignore this fact when they call him mr. clutch?

Because hitting with runners in scoring position isn't necessarily clutch.

Clutch is getting the big hit at the end of the game when we need it most... and Marco not only seems to do that very often, it seems he now feeds off of it.
