I'm sure he didn't mean to throw it right down the middle.

That ball should have been in the dirt, bar-none. There's no reason to put yourself in a position to even be close. It was more than just an inaccurate pitch, it was a mental mistake. It should have never been thrown, IMO.

That may be, but it was ONE pitch.

The guy pitched 7.2 innings and struck out 9 while only giving up 3 runs. If that's deserving of a ND, then there are going to be A LOT of wins this year where the pitcher didn't deserve the win, yet got one. I mean, do they have to throw a shutout in order to 'deserve' a win?

There's a difference between hanging a curve ball in the middle of the game and throwing a pitch that never should have been thrown. I'm not saying Brett's a bad pitcher. Quite the contrary, I think he's a bona fide ace. But he definitely made a huge mistake yesterday. And if you make a mistake like that, you can't blame the game on anyone else. Hopefully there was a lesson learned yesterday.

Well we don't know that brett called the pitch...he made a misteake...don't know where it was supposed to go.

I'm begining to think that 'good' ryan madson is gone forever...starting him may have done messed him up.

Let's focus on myers poor play and ignore 2nd/3rd no outs with howard, utley burrell coming up and getting no movement.

It was actually victorino, Howard and Utley ;)

and just because I only commented on one situation of the game doesn't mean everything else is ignored, forgotten, or not held accountable. What we discuss here doesn't fix anything. We talk about what we chose to talk about. I chose to comment on the pitch.

yup...myers made one mistake (or was it manuel who made the mistake leaving him in the game too long) and that's what you choose to focus on...next time i point out how jameer nelson sucks ass at point guard you might want to remember thhis comment moderator boy.

I'm looking for hamels to rebound from his spring training problems...dude was working on pitches that were giving him trouble...i expect a nice come back today and i think the phils will win (and i think howard will be fourth and utley fifth....burrell was something like 1 for 23 against smoltz before opening day)

that's who I chose to comment on, not focus on.

I'm not sure where the Jameer reference is coming from, but that's an overall statement on his game, not a reference to a singular event.

That's ok...i can't expect you to remember every 'teaching' comment you try to make on the web ricky jr....

I'm putting some money on the phils to win today.

I didn't get the game either. Pretty angry considering the season just started. Sounds like Cole pitched a great game, but I have to question Charlie again leaving him in there for 110 pitches. The bullpen was worn out by the midpoint of last season, I just hope he doesn't do it with the starters this year. Hoping Gordon can put together his first save of the season and the Phils get the W!

You have got to be kidding me. Flash gives up a 2 run bomb to McCann in the 9th. Tied at 2. Our two starters have thrown great games so far and have nothing to show for it.

Typical Phillies.

Uugh... I think I'm more ticked off by the base running than I am the bullpen... Stealing 3rd with a lefty at the plate (appearantly Victarino acted on his own)??? Sending Howard home on a sore hammy???

2.5 games back and we've only played two games...

Gordon has a WHIP of 2.5 and Madson 2.0

I can't take another 160 of these...

You have to take 2 out of 3 against lesser division opponents (Braves, Marlins, and Nationals)...

Are we still the team to beat Jimmy???

These guys suck.

Should have known I was making a mistake counting on the Phillies being good.
