Trade Winds Blowin'
July 30 , 2007 | By Mike Santa Barbara | Discuss
With the trade deadline only one day away heres the round up of Phils trade rumors:

First the Phils on the market:

Rod Barajas: May be traded to the Yankees for a pitcher. If not most likely will be sat down the rest of the year and bought out next year ($550k Buyout for 2008).

Aaron Rowand: Although the Phils are unlikely to trade him apparently the San Diego Padres have been calling about him and Shane Victorino. However, Its highly unlikely theyll trade either.

Pat Burrell: A deal broke down with the Twins when Burrell refused to waive his no-trade clause. However, the Giants, Rangers and Padres have expressed a little interest in Burrell now that the word around the majors is the Phils are willing to pick up a hefty part of Burrells contract.

Michael Bourn: Lots of news about Bourn:

Bourn has already been offered to four teams this week Florida Marlins, Texas Rangers, San Francisco Giants, and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. The Phils offered Bourn and Carlos Carrasco for Dontrelle Willis earlier this week and it was obviously rejected. Then Bourn was also offered to the Marlins for Scott Olsen the two teams are still talking maybe being able to work something out.

-Bourn was also offered to the Angels for Ervin Santana

-San Francisco for Noah Lowry

-Texas for Kameron Loe and C.J Wilson (Bourn was part of a package for the two the other components are not known)

Who the Phils are after:

Livan Hernandez- After Randy Johnsons injury Hernandez is now off the market and the Diamondbacks are trying to work out a long-term deal for Hernandez.

Brad Lidge- Now that the Astros have traded Dan Wheeler it looks as if Lidge is now off the market.

Jermaine Dye- Interesting story, The Red Sox and White Sox are trying to work out a deal for Dye but needed a third team to jump in and it looks like if its going to happen it will be the Phils. Coming to the Phils would probably be a pitcher from which team isnt yet known. So stay tuned to that one.

Other players the Phils have called about or scouted this week:

Jon Garland- Unlikely the Phils have enough to get him, apparently the Mets are close to a deal involving Lastings Milidge.

Saloman Torres- Could happen, might not take much.

Matt Morris- Phils and other teams havent liked what theyve seen when scouted but still a possibility.

Carlos Silva- Another guy, who it might not take much to get, the Twins are fairly deep at starter for the future.

Akinori Otsuka- Unlikely, Price to high.

Kyle Lohse Possible, but not a quick fix buy any means.

Ryan Church- Will be traded, if not to the Phils, they may pursue him in the off-season.

Steve Kline- May take more then hes worth to get him, not a quick fix.

Joe Kennedy- Maybe, but price may be too high
