That 3-2 curveball that buckled Biggio's knee was absolutely filthy!

Meet your #1 starter, San Francisco.

This dude better pitch in Fenway this year.

Finally, the answer I was looking for.

Thanks.

I should have quoted my source. Since 1997, these are the highest major league equivalent strikeout percentages.

Code: Select all

Pedro Martinez              1999        39.2%
Pedro Martinez              2000        38.0%
Pedro Martinez              2001        36.3%
Randy Johnson               2001        34.7%
Randy Johnson               1997        34.6%
Randy Johnson               2000        33.5%
Randy Johnson               1999        32.8%
Randy Johnson               1998        32.1%
Pedro Martinez              2002        31.6%
Kerry Wood                  1998        31.5%
Tim Lincecum                2006        30.9%
Randy Johnson               2002        30.8%
Johan Santana               2004        30.5%
Pedro Martinez              1997        30.4%

Pretty nice company.

I wish he would throw the offspeed stuff more. He seemed to throw a lot of fastballs last night and his curve and changeoff seem to be very good pitches.

1 game off, BG. He's scheduled to pitch the 13th against Toronto.

You guys will see Zito, Cain, and Morris.

What an outing. 3H, 0BB, 12K, 0ER.

I'm glad the bats helped him out. This is the kind of outing I almost expect the starter to lose or get a no decision on.

This is what he's capable of if he has command. He wasn't a wild thing in college, so it's probably just a matter of getting comfortable. He's already using a changeup and now mixing in a 4-seamer, which he hasn't used until now.

Lincecum was absolutely nasty on Sunday. I've watched the game 3 times now and am just amazed.

He made the Arizona hitters just look foolish...and they're a good hitting team. The fact that he can hit 98 with a 2-seamer is just plain scary...the highest I've ever seen a 2-seam fastball be was around 92...

I almost wish that Bochy would've let him pitch more because I think he could've gotten 15 Ks, but I know it was the smart thing to do, you don't want to risk him injuring himself when you've already won the game.

I think the Giants should trade Morris for a highly rated pitching prospect, move Cain to #1, Lincecum #2, Lowry #3, Zito #4, and put Sanchez in at #5 after the all-star break.

On another note, it seems that Vinnie Chulk and Kevin Correia have switched places...Chulk has been lights out and Correia has given up the go-ahead run in each of his last 2 starts.

Chulk is on bereavement leave probably until after the break.

Correia is kerosene.
