Would have preferred a 4-5 year deal. 7 is a long time.

Actually.....its King Felix. It's whatever. Dude is a Mariners legend. Big ups to him for his loyalty to a disaster of a franchise. Love the guy.

Technically this is a 5 year extension, as they are 'buying out' the two years he had left on his old contract so it's not too bad. I think it's fantastic. Felix has been the one constant and if he wants to stay here then I want to keep him here.

That makes more sense.

TBH, make it a 10-year deal for 30 a season and I wouldn't be complaining much.

Why in the hell does Felix love this franchise so much? Must be the good coffee and food in the city.

His press conference today was awesome. I'm glad we were able to keep a star player in an M's uniform for once, and I'm equally delighted to see the player choked with emotion when he talks about what this team and this city mean to him. The contract may be the biggest ever for a pitcher but I think it's a smart move. Pay the man now when you've got the money to do it since the big FA names you chased spurned you.
