I really don't feel all that great about our chances against the suddenly rejuvenated Scott Kazmir, but we'll see what happens.

Please disregard my earlier statements about Kazmir!

Ouch! Too bad about that 2 run shot. Just a bad pitch by Young who's otherwise pitched well tonight so far.

Yes! Great time for his first HR.

Romero is starting to look comfortable in the 2 hole, which is something that really surprises me. His swings early in the season looked like complete guesswork but now he's making some solid contact.

It would be nice if a regular lineup hitter stepped up and surprised. We're overdo for that.

Yay! We get a break and another run.

Just when it looked like we'd get another run that inning, we ran ourselves out of it.

Oh well. We're leading. Got some hope going tonight. If we can come up with a win tonight, then a series split is clearly within our grasp.

It seems our starting pitching rotation will be something like this when health comes around:

--Felix
--Iwakuma
--Elias
--Young
--Paxton/Walker

Remarkable. Miller steals two bases easily, likely the two cleanest steals we've had all season, and then we follow it up with some horribleness on the base paths.

How impressive is Chris Young tonight? Easily the most in control he's been all season.

Yup. Let's see if we can get through the 7th with him.

What do you do if--IF--both Paxton and Walker are perfectly healthy? Paxton's pitched at a level shockingly close to Felix and Iwakuma, and Walker's the crown jewel of the M's prospects.

How's this for an answer. I haven't a clue.

I'm wondering if any of these other guys (like Ramirez, Mauer, etc...) will find a role in the bullpen? And there's always the trade-bait thing (not Walker, Elias, or Paxton, though).

I'm not the only one to think this, but I agree with the prevailing wisdom that Maurer looks like a good long reliever in the making, He's still not great against batters from both sides of the plate, but without having to worry about going 6+ innings (which he doesn't seem to have the stamina to do regularly at this level) I think he could be quite effective.

I also have no desire to trade Elias/Walker/Paxton. If they're healthy and they've made it, be lucky for what you have. I know you have to trade something to get something but having three young cost controlled members of your rotation means you can save money to use on other areas of weakness.

Leone didn't get the out but that was still a hell of a sequence of pitches. That last pitch was almost a back breaker.

I can buy all of that.
