I hate to say this. This team does not miss Maxi.

He would help. They woundnt play hack a shaq if Maxi was on the floor.

You lose rebounding and rim protection if you put him in as the only big, and it doesn't usually make up for it on the other end like he did in Game 5 vs Clippers. I never had a problem with him playing the 4 it's when he's the 5 I hate it. Game 4 he got ate up.

If Maxi was on the floor, multiple layups would have scored by OKC and we will lose.

No disrespect to Maxi. But Harden and SGA see tons of opportunities with Luka and Maxi playing together. The Mavs miss Maxi when the team is down by 20. But still, the gap is more likely to get widening.

If Gafford is on the floor, I think hack-a-Shaq will happen as well. I think the Mavs is struggling to score. The hacking attempt serves the Mavs just as well. One thing I think is true - whoever Lively and Gafford guarding on the perimeter gets higher %. I think both needs to study the habit of the shooters. Instead of waiting until a shot is off, both should make things uncomfortable for shooters, e.g. using off hand to handle, interrupting the mechanics taking the ball ups, shadowing the eyes of shooters.

Guard defense and jump shooting fundamentals need work. Studying Jimmy Butler, Wes Matthews, Ray Allen, Steph Curry will help. Getting blown by, biting on pump fakes, not getting the feet set before shooting, taking the ball up for shooting...needs significant leap if the Mavs want to be true contender instead of dark horse. I kinda like how Luka responds defensively.

In a series where #2 and #3 in MVP voting are playing, Kyrie is the best player on the floor.
The game felt like game 1 mid way through the 3rd, OKC physical defense frustrated the Mavs, the bigs didn't deliver and OKC opened a 10 point lead, Kidd calls timeout, rearranges the defense, PJ hits few big shots and it's 16-0 run for the Mavs or something.
THJ hit a 3 to beat the buzzer to end the 3rd, Mavs lead by 4, I don't think it dropped below 3 since then.

I hope they don't learn to shot from distance. I don't want any of these two to wait at the three point line instead of being in the painted area fighting for rebounds. At some point we had 15-1 offense rebounds. Our Mavs. That would not happen if the could shoot the three. If you want to stretch the floor get a new guy but please don't turn our two guys into something they aren't

You really shouldn't be afraid of that, Gafford 100% won't ever be able to. And Lively can't shoot at all at the moment, if it's not a dunk, so he first have to learn how to make those inside the paint shots. I would say some kind of hook shot would be perfect for him.

Dallas is due for a big game from Luka. The eye test is he's being carried all playoffs by Kyrie. It's easy to stat pad and not make an impact in today's NBA. See Russell Westbrook doing it straight for 2 or 3 seasons. Luka doesn't know how to play any other way so we ride with what we have. Hopefully those stepback 32 footers start falling in the next games.

He will get there. He's like a teenager at this point. OG Anunoby, Jaden Mcdaniels all started slow. No teenager comes into the NBA and defends like Ron Artest.

Yep...been saying this all along.
OMax would fit perfect into a 3/4 rotation of PJ/Jones/OMax if he continues to improve.
If he gets a consistent shot down, he could compete to be a starter next season.

Honestly, I don't think I'd be upset if we don't make any moves this offseason other than resigning Jones.
Hardaway, Green and Maxi in limited roles, with Hardy and OMax slowly developing into bigger roles wouldn't be a bad way to start next season.

Then make trades around the TDL to address areas of need like we did this season.

Green and Lively were huge in the 3q 16:0 run. Green had 3 nice reads, a corner 3 and great defense and showed great hustle in boards, I don't really know what you want from him? To transform into Maxey/Bane? Well he can't to that, but he was a huge factor in swinging the momentum.

And Dlive was just out of this world, he won the game with his defense in the 2nd half, the "COY" tried to take him out of the game becouse of that, but Dlive delivered on the line. Just phenomenal stuff from him.
