Indeed. I'm not sure voters would give him the MVP even if Mavs finish in top5 or even top4, that's how good Jokic's advance numbers are. Though Luka does have great numbers aswell, but just proves it more how good Jokic is. But like you said, if this team was consistent and no major injuries, i think Luka would have won it.
Next season is going to be spicy. With full off season and hopefully new improved additions on the guard/wing positions. That team will have (dare i say) finals potential?
