I think he brings some value when the pressure is off him to some degree. We need another 2 way player that can really defend next year. Use maxi and hardaway to get that guy.
He is just running back and forth. LOL
If you can get a great 2 way for him, fine. If not, you keep him because he's young, athletic, and can knock down the 3. He also has experience with this group.
You sure Green can knock down 3? lol

Green might be athletic compared to us. But I'm sure my ball IQ is way better than him. lol

Don't take my word for it. He has decent percentages. But if you can a very strong defensive 2 way SF with size....you put him on the bench.

Are you joking? Green is shooting almost 42% from 3 this year, 2nd year in a row over 40%. He should close out games instead of THJ because he hustles, rebounds and at least attempts to play defense.

Agreed. THJ is too much of a liability on D and DJJ cannot play down the stretch if either of Gafford or Lively are out there. His shot is not good enough to command any attention. Green can hit an open 3 and not being completely wrecked on D like THJ at least.
Imo when Exum is healthy, he might take that spot to close games though. He doesn't have the quickness of Green but he's just a more reliable and heady guy.

This is the kind of game that we ideally visioned post TDL. Lively and Gafford splitting the 48 mins at C. Playing ultra aggressive, not caring about foul calls. PJ being the 3rd scorer. Not getting bullied in the paint or rebounds. Kyrie and Luka doing their thing.
Now it's about consistency and not falling back to old habits or old rotations (looking at you Kidd).

Maxi leads the mavs to another win by letting DLive and Gaff man the C spot tonight .

If we have decent C rotation, we should never go small. We are still lacking decent offensive scheme, except for Luka/Kyrie unlimited 1 on 1. Defensively, we still need to be better.

He's a great delegator.
I still don't understand how Gafford got 7 minutes last night against the Cavs and Maxi got 27. Give Gafford 5 more of those minutes and I bet we win the game. But it should be Gafford 27 Maxi 7. Maxi is 32 years old and good for one three per night.
Well it's Kidd we're talking about so, there's no logic to it. No logic to him being the coach at all either.
Until they fix the coach this team wont' contend.

Nice win. Luka was monster again with 30pts and 16 assists!! He is so f'in great on offense. Nice to have Exum back as well.
Team needs time to adjust to each other. Too many roster moves in short time. But I think it looks nice so far.
Kidd played Gafford most tonight. I think it was a better decision as Raptors have Poetl, Olynyk that likes to finish around the rim and go for boards. Gafford is the strongest big men we have. Fits these games more.
Pacers also beat NOP today. Carlisle teams, they always find ways to score and get on some mini runs.
Cavs spent all of their energy and LUCK yesterday so they lost today.
Next six games: Celtics-76ers-Pacers-Heat-Pistons-Bulls. Three of them are National TV games.
- Celtics team is stacked. That one would be hard.
- 76ers shouldn't be a problem without Embiid. Heat game is in Dallas and Luka is usually comfortable against them.
- We need to win Pacers this time and two easier games in Pistons and Bulls.
5-1 would be a nice way to go these 6 games.

Why are you fixated on Maxi this much? He has been a solid rotation player for us. FO already paid him so Kidd might as well get him ready during the season.
Closing minutes of the Cavs game, Maxi blocked a shot and he was doing good on defensive assignments.
5-out offense helped us offensively that game. Its a strategy to get J.Allen out of the paint.
Lively-Gafford combined for a total of 29 minutes, -12.
Kleber played 27 minutes, -3.
If Mavs match up against Twolves, I bet we'll have stretches where we put Maxi against Gobert to mess up their defense.

Re: RS 23/24 - Mavs @ Raptors (730PMEST)
Mavs won because Kidd had no choice but to play Lively and Gafford 20+ minutes each. Mavs also won the rebounds and had 7 more blocks. Probably not a coincidence.
Sometimes, basketball can be as simple as making sure you rebound, defend, protect the paint while your two all-world scorers do their thing. But sometimes Kidd likes to overcomplicate stuff and likes to think he's playing chess while the rest play checkers.
