Re: Mavs coaching discussion
This can't be the coaching staff, sorry, this is as unserious as it gets, even if you want Kidd as a coach, his staff is simply too unexperienced and young.
In January he was a foot and half out of the door.

Have the Mavs achieved anything for Kidd to get extended ? Two big losts against Leonard-less LA team with obvious poor substitutions. This organization sucks.

Should the Clippers get Batum and Morris, this series has already been lost.

Kyrie is the actual coach on this team. Kidd has proven failure letting Zubac own Gafford. I can accept Harrison being a great GM but Kidd is not even a coach, let alone a good coach.

The timing is also wrong. So the Mavs plans a vacation after this series.

Re: Mavs coaching discussion
Mavs just announced that Kidd signs contract extension.
Does anyone know why this is announced or even negotiated right now? This has to be only time when a contract extension was announced between playoff series

I love it when there is a situation on the floor that needs to be addressed very quickly and Kidd is looking clueless on the sidelines with his hands in his pockets. Great job resigning him.

It doesn't matter what the fans or youtube analysts think. The bottomline is Kyrie and Luka like Kidd, so that alone got him his extension. Plain and simple. No use analyzing this further. Im more worried how they are able to retain DJJ after this season.

Luka's legacy at least for probably the rest of his 20's are tied to Jason Kidd.
I am starting to see some good in Kidd but the bad is still there also. I think the fact that Kyrie and Luka seem happy with him you have to keep him, and the fact that the team is buying in on defense. The chess game of in game adjustments is just never going to be a strength of his.

I like the Nico pride, he want to win a ring without a real coach. That guy has great courage.
Jason Kidd is the new Doc Rivers.
0% coaching skills.
100% (unmotivated) reputation around the league.
Others GM will party all night long.
It's insane how NBA world works.
Goodbye. It's just too much.

If they win a ring and under Kidd does it matter what people think of coaching prowess?

Are they choosing the coach that's really the one that's most likely to get Luka a ring or just the coach that Luka and Kyrie like?

Re: Mavs coaching discussion
Okay Luka and Kyrie like Kidd.
But why do you announce it in the running playoffs? There is no need to open a second topic besides the playoffs. Everyone should be focused and locked in. Not reading news etc. And now everyone is talking about the Coach. Why do you do that?

Why can’t they be the same coach? A better X’s and O’s coach doesn’t necessarily mean they are the best coach for Luka and Kyrie. What if that coach came in and destroyed the team chemistry. Rick Carlisle is a better coach than Kidd but he was horrible for Luka. Kidd has his flaws (which is very annoying) however he has Kyrie playing better than he probably ever has in his career. Luka should be the MVP, and once he got the right kind of players he coached the Mavs to 50 wins again and they’re currently in the 2nd round of the playoffs. Chemistry matters and even though there are better coaches out there this works. Just saying.

Patrick Dumont made it pretty clear a few months ago that he (his family) is the owner and Nico is the GM. Cuban is nothing more than a minority share holder who still attends all the games. He’s nothing more than a figurehead with no power to make changes or sign anyone to a contract.
