Very interesting recent numbers (Harris vs Terry)

Post#1 » by Hot Carl » Thu Jan 3, 2008 11:28 am

I love when you find some solid quantitative data to back up your suspicions.

Over the last 5 games (The better numbers are highlighted)

Harris: 16.6 ppg
Terry: 9.6 ppg

Harris: 53% FG
Terry: 35% FG

Harris: 5 3pt FG made
Terry: 5 3pt FG made

Harris: 50% 3FG
Terry: 24% 3FG

Harris: 32/39 FT (82%)
Terry: 9/11 FT (73%)

Harris: 4.4 apg
Terry: 3.0 apg

Harris: 2.0 spg
Terry: 1.2. spg

Harris: 27.4 mpg
Terry: 27.6 mpg

Now there is no rational explanation for this. At the moment Devin is better at every facet of basketball; even shooting. Those numbers arent even close, and dont even take into acount Devin's superior man defense or ability to push the pace and get us easy buckets. Yet Terry is getting more PT. I know its not much, but it shouldnt be close.

We have a dynamite PG breaking out of his skin, and Avery is gioving him a big "**** you"

We have talked about what would be ideal numbers for Terry in recent years. I think if Devin can get those numbers, then that would be fine. From memory,

15pts
6 to 7 assists
3 rebounds
46% FG
80% FT
35% 3 pt%
2 steals
30 minutes

He is clearly not getting the time, so is not getting the numbers

We are also only 3-2 over those 5 games... Terry needs to pick it up.

Terry had a shooting slump for a few games. To say that his numbers during a slump are not as good as usual is not very informative.

Harris playing time is often limited by foul trouble. From what I see, anyway. Last 4 games...4 fouls in each. I suggest this is one reason his mpg has not been as high as you would like.

I like having a good 2nd string player at the 1 and 5, especially if they are more proned to fouls since they rather play defense than let the opponent fly by them.

Foul trouble is over-rated. If you are not fouling, you are not husling, defending, aggresive and overall, not ballin'.

Wow, waived? I guess that proves you cannot but a Sun's version of the Nash jersey and expect to be around long!
