Now we'll see who's really made him an offer. I'll go out on a limb and say it won't be the MLE for 5 years his agent talked about.

If the Blazers don't want him that narrows Bass' options down to Orlando and Orlando.

Detroit should actually have roughly 3.4 in cap to offer Bass in year 1 of a multi-year deal. Orlando can easily outbid that using their MLE, but it gives us a fighting chance.

i don't see portland taking millsap, bass seems to be a better fit (and for less cash) - is that a credible source?

why has orlando not put an offer to bass already, i think he would be a stud in their starting line-up next to dwight with rashard at the 3...

I think Orlando is letting some things shake out before they commit to Bass. Like where Mcdyess was headed, maybe they're looking at other players too. Maybe Dallas/Toronto had been pestering them for a Hedo S&T that would allow them to get Bass in a S&T for a trade exception + compensation to the Mavs + renouncing Marcin Gortat.

Chad Ford reports this morning that the Pistons look be in the lead for Bass.

From everything I've heard, 3.5 mil for him is a steal, so I'm hoping we snag him. We need size, even if it's slightly undersized size...

Seems like Bass will be most likely gone...

He updates his "best available free agents" list.

Although now that I read it again, he said he believes we are the front runner, but there's nothing definite in his writing.

It's insider, but here's his quote:

"Bass is big, athletic and still pretty young. All that is appealing to teams that need size and can get Bass for less than the midlevel exception. I think the Pistons are in the lead for his services at the moment."

Bass just doesnt make sense to come back here. Gortat/Dampier are going to get all the center minutes (or they should) and with Dirk/Humphries/Marion all being able to play PF, and Dirk & Marion being better options than Bass to get those minutes, there is no reason to bring back Bass, nor for him to want to come back.

He'll be an excellent backup/energy guy for someone. Hopefully he goes East to Detroit as I dont see that team competing for a chmapionship anytime soon.

TPE from Orlando for Bass+? Possible with Orlando passing on Gortat?

Well, he almost got what he was looking for in a contract. I'll be looking forward to seeing how he does with a starting opportunity on the line. Also, glad he went to the East.

Well... sad to read...

anyway:

Thank you Brandon, I really enjoyed having you here and seeing you improve and throw it down onto the opposition. Wish you all the best for the future! Enjoy Florida ;-)

At least that secures us Gortat.

Bass sucks. Orlando fits best for him though, im sure he really wanted to start... Any possibility of a S&T? That way we could still have our MLE to sign someone else.
