I would have liked to see him back, but it wasnt realistic for us. He goes to a quality team and gets to start. Nice deal for him. I am glad that he isnt going to our competition in the west.

This definitely makes ORL better for next year: Nelson, Carter, Lewis, Bass, Howard. Thats pretty good.

Dal-ORL finals in 2010 BABY!

How does this affect Orlando's decision on Gortat?

No. Bass will be signing outright with Orlando.

And to dirkules; There is still a possibility Orlando resigns Gortat.

I don't know but I sure would have wanted Bass to wait until the Gortat situation is settled. That bastard GM in Orlando is being a F- ing Rick with a P right now about waiting until the very last moment and second on Gortat. I would offer Bass a contract starting at 5 Mil with max increases for 5 years just out of spite to Orlando if they match Gortat. Too bad Mavs couldn't have Bass wait and see.

sad sad day for a mav fan. BB brought some good hustle and some sick jams. How many days to the magic have to match the mavs offer for Gortat?

There is a difference between agreeing to terms and signing outright. Just ask Hedo, Hedon't.

Best of luck to Brandon. He played well for us, and Orlando will be a good opportunity for him. Sorry to see him go.

Hmm I am really really sad, because he will leave us now. But at the same time feel happy for him, because he did, what's best for his career. I really enjoyed your tenure although it was way too short. You will stay one of my favorite players.
Since I saw it coming after the Gortat signing and the Marion Trade rumors I kinda was prepared for this, so its easier for me to say good bye. Thank you Brandon Bass for everything you brought to this team and I wish you just the best of luck.

Orlando fan here who's never really seen Bass play. Was wondering what your thoughts are on him. Could you compare him to anyone else in the league? Is he a banger or is he soft? What did you guys hate about his game?

Apologies if this has already been asked, I just couldn't find a thread.

Does this mean Orlando is matching our offer for Gortat? I thing they are.

If they had no interest in Gortat they would find a way to S&T saving both teams their MLE, now I think they wanted Bass and Gortat.

Read the mass weeping here on the board, and you will quickly realize he was VERY well liked.

What?? Why would you think that signing Bass would mean they are matching Gortat. In fact it means that they are almost surely not matching Gortat. You are wrong. The reason a S&T was not easy to do was because of the BYC of Bass. You can't assume that every team has unlimited money and would be willing to go over the cap. There is no reason for Orlando to save their MLE because they don't intend on spending much more money.

His only weakness to me is that he needs to learn to play smarter sometimes. Other than this, he is a good player in everything to me, and still developing.

He has a great midrange jump shot.

He is always trying to slam it, but because he is a bit short, he does get blocked a bit often.

When hes having a good game, hes really great, and is very quick on his feet.

He shows up big in some games which is probably what got a lot of Mavs fan sad at his departure. IMO he can be absent in some major games. He is undersized for the way he plays, but he gives 100% effort every time he is on the floor. Mark and Donnie said he was an ideal person to have in the locker room! You guys in Orlando should love him, he will have an exciting put back dunk and is consistent with the 15 to 18 foot jumpers.
