Pitching

Post#1 » by StlFan21 » Fri Nov 30, 2007 10:11 pm

Joe Strauss of the Stl Post Dispatch said there was strong interest in acquiring Chris Capuano from the Brewers. He also mentioned that it might just be a Capuano for Reyes straight swap.

This sounds like a pretty good deal to me because while I think Reyes still has the potential to be a good starter, I just don't see him achieving it with the Cardinals.

I like Capuano, as if he gets away from the awful infield defense with the Brewers I think he is a 4.4 ERA guy and the Cardinals 2nd best pitcher. But he is also 2 years closer to free agency then Reyes. While also trading Reyes in division I don't like because if he puts it together it's going to bite the Cards in the ass. I would much rather trade Reyes to the AL, actually I'd much rather keep him because his value is so low right now.

That makes no sense for the Brewers. We'd be trading starting pitching to clear the glut not trading a starter for another starter.

Getting the better talent (and risk) and saving money.

We already have guys that are better than Reyes to put in the rotation. There would be no spot for him. We'd only be saving about $3.5 million so it's not like we need to cut salary.

Well you'd be saving that money and getting a player who's further away from free agency. As a brewer fan you don't like it, and as a Cardinal fan I don't like it because I'd rather trade Reyes to an AL team or not sell so low on him. So what does that mean? That means the trade will happen just to piss us off.
