Sternberg makes statement on a new stadium

Post#1 » by craig01 » Mon Jun 21, 2010 10:21 pm

The city of St Pete will no doubt come out with guns a blazing over what Sternberg said in a presser today.

The facts are against the city when push comes to shove because the location of the Trop just doesn't work as it basically excludes too many folks that WOULD travel to a more convenient location (like the fairgrounds in east Tampa).

The current lease expires in 2027, AND language says that the Rays CAN NOT even search without city consent. This may get ugly very soon, but the Rays have tried just about EVERYTHING in making the venue work....but obviously to no avail.

Here's hoping Hillsborough County steps up to the plate......
