How to achieve a vaguely tolerable pitching staff

1 - DFA Fossum, Witasick, and McClung just on principle

2 - Trade Wigginton for Proctor, as has been rumoured

3 - Option Stokes (I heard once that this wasn't possible. If it's not, DFA him), Dohmannn (until Glover next implodes) and Ryu

4 - Recall Salas, regardless of lack of reps

5 - Recall Corcoran to play long relief, and Swizter (1.2 innings isn't exactly indicative of anything - he has a chance to be mediocre. That's a good thing at this time)

6 - Option Howell, start Hammell.

7 - Turn Buddhist and pray for help

8 - Move Dale Thayer from AA to AAA

SP - Shields
SP - Kazmir
SP - Sonnastine
SP - Jackson
SP - Hammel

Long relief - Corcoran (he throws strikes, even if they aren't especially breathtaking ones. When used as a set up guy, he just doesn't work)

7th inning - Salas
8th inning - Proctor
9th inning - Reyes

Others - Swizter (or Howell, if you wish. Make either of those a LOOGY - Swizter has the better splits but it's not like either is good), Glover, Camp

TREEPLE A:

SP - Niemann
SP - Talbot
SP - Seo
SP - Ryu
SP - Howell

Set up - Orvella
Set up - Dohmann
Closer - Thayer

Others - Stokes, Ridgway, Andrade, that Peguero fella what sucks

That's the best that I can come up with without looking outside of the organisation other than Proctor. It's hardly inspiring, and relies on Corcoran miraculously being healthy as well as Salas actualyl being good when not juiced. And there's still going to be starters blowups at which point major trouble ensues, but whatever.

Hopefully that would be able to see out the season without records being broken.

Then open the sodding chequebook and LET'S ACTUALLY RECTIFY STUFF.

Alternatively, just leave Dohmann up and forget Corcoran, with Glover going back to long relief.

Or cut Camp and have both.

Or neither since they both suck.

I dunno, I'm stumped.

There just isn't much to work with.

But, let's face it.......Fossum can't get anyone out, Witasek can't throw strikes, Stokes gets hammered every other time out, and Howell just doesn't have enough command for so little heat.

I would like to see Salas back regardless of his "juice" content.

Hammel I'm not sure about at this point.

It's really a shame that there isn't a single guy that can get outs from the 6th inning on.
Basketball is driven by three principles:

1) Movement 2) Application of fundamentals 3) Predictability
