Howell not ready yet

JP Howell is being held out of pitching for 2-3 weeks.

His shoulder did not respond well in a recent strength test.

Howell is a very important part to the Rays' bullpen hope he can come back and healthy.

Howell pitched batting practice yesterday and had to stop after 12/13 pitches.

Looks ominous for a short term return.

Just saw that Howell will have surgery and will be out the rest of the season and the beginning of 2011. That is a seriously tough loss. Although the rays are getting by with what they have now, Howell is a stud and it is hard to see a stud not be in that bullpen anymore. Very big loss hopefully the rays can just keep winning.
