That's just not how baseball works. You can't just declare that you feel like you should be winning a title and if it doesn't happen the front office is at fault. This isn't Peter Pan, and Tinkerbell doesn't hoist the Commissioner's Trophy if everyone just believes enough.

You'd think that, after the sheer number of times that people declared our season over on the basis of a couple games, that it would begin to set in that baseball is a high-variance sport. I guess not! Bring on the nuclear fire takes if we don't beat a team that we have maybe a 55% chance of beating (or, apparently, if we lose to a team that is manifestly better than us in the DS).

Mariners are using a backup catcher to pitch in the 10th inning. It’s going to be hard for the Rays to top this tanking effort but I’m sure they will try.

Lol the Mariners won anyway

If/when the Rays game is called for rain tonight, the Jays/Mariners matchup is locked in.

Rays down 6-0 and with the mariners just winning in extras does that mean we are playing Seattle unless rays come back and win plus win their last game and Seattle would need to lose both remaining

I would imagine that also locks in the game for the 4 pm slot on Friday.

Yep. We have no excuses if we lose to the Mariners. They suck AND we have home field.

If we get Tampa, then a loss is very possible, even at home. But they seem to be throwing their remaining games, so looks like it'll be Seattle (they just need to stop sucking for a moment and win one or two games to lock in the seeding).

interesting to see where the expectations are now. setting the table already to rip into the front office, coaching staff and players if they can't win a best of 3 where literally anything could happen?

a lot had this team at WS or bust before the season but when it comes to the MLB, i think once you get a seat at the table, you kinda just hope to get premium hands only and that goes for every team.

You bet most of us will be ripping into the front office! No excuses. You're at home and you are the better team. WS or bust! I agree with Raps in 4.

The last time we won a WS was in 1993. That's a long time my friends.

you know what's not a long time? the less than two months since you:

- asked to stick a fork in this team
- declared the season was over
- predicted that if they did make the playoffs that they would get their asses handed to them

and now you're saying they're good enough to win the world series (which is what "WS or bust" essentially means)? interesting outlook on baseball you have there.

Bautista outplays his contract by more than $70 million over the next four seasons (2013-2016).

Also 1993 isn't even really THAT long of a time. It's 29 years. There's 30 teams in the league. Winning once every 30 years makes us pretty much average on a longer scale. We've won twice (and counting) in 45 years. That's not awful.

But dammit, I want more!

I know it'll never happen for some good reasons and some dumb ones but it would be awesome if the Jays just forfeited the 2nd game of the doubleheader tomorrow.

Now that Padres are about to win they should be able to set playoff schedule tonight. My prediction

Tampa/Cleveland noon
Jays/Mariners 3:30
Mets/Padres 7
St Luis /Phillies 9

I can totally see it. At least we'll have home field if we face them there.

The next time Jordan pitches will be the highest leverage moment of our season I don't mind him getting some reps 2 days before.

I think it's fine. He hasn't pitched since Sunday and won't pitch again until Friday. You don't want him going into the WC series on a week of rest.

2 Ks for Zimmer, batting average sitting at .121

Will we see a sub .100 player to end a season? That's gotta be a record right?
